No "set up email icon"
Please Login to Remove!
I don't have a "set up email option" I'm not using an enterprise server is there a way to set up my e-mail? the icon I have isn't hidden. Everything i've read says there should be one but there isn't... My phone is an 8100 on Tmo. 4.2.1.107 I think I'd need BIS, but I don't see an option for it anywhere.

yea this is an easy fix. that means that your service books were either corrupted or are missing. you have 2 options here.
first: log into this website and click the resend service books icons.
https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=tmobile
second: call tmobile and have the blackberry dept resend the service books.

Another option to solve your problem
This option is a bit more time consumming but will ensure you that you have everything ok. It works like a full "resfresh". This procedure will not erase your Blackberry Pearl 8100 (contacts, address, internal memory, theme setup, etc.). It's like a repair for all device applications. It may take over 30 minutes depending on the connected PC.
I have done this procedure when the Internet Browser dissappers or when an icon freeze when selected.
Good luck!

That is extreme overkill.
Service book issues are easily solved with a battery pull.

If the battery do the job... Cool! Second option is also nice if you are with TMobile. I believe you can do the re-send service books directly from the Pearl bu forgot where. My way is the extreme-hardcore one. Use it only as the last option to avoid the extra work.

MY LUCK I TELL YOU! I get the tard in training that didn't have a clue what I was talking about. And, the battery pull didn't help. I already told her I did one and she had me do another one..... i hate call centers...

The other possibility is the icon is just hidden?
In your homescreen click on the menu button and choose "show all".

Pull the battery and give it about 3 -5 minutes. That may work. Also, login to your BIS account and send all the service books after you do the battery pull. That should do it. If not, just login to your BIS and set up all your email accounts...it's actually much easier.

try switching the theme to dimension icon or zen and see if you have the icon then. email setup should already be on the device and not via service book. fresh out of the box you should be able to run it, even if you have no data connection (it will just give an error that it has no data connection, though the application should be present)

Also, in your solution you suggested he call into T-Mobile and have them resend service books as well. If you resend them yourself there is no need to have T-Mobile resend them.

I didn't take their post as taking credit. They listed the steps that did it and said *thank you* that's a whole lot more than most give. I am sure they appreciate your help!

haha do you even read my post? i didnt say you had to resend them yourself AND call tmobile. I said you have 2 options, meaning its one or the other. maybe he wasnt able to log into his BIS account, so therefore he could as a 2nd option call tmobile and they could do the same thing.

Lol, I have an ex-boyfriend who always has to one up me..
I got a pearl, he got one for free...
And who is calling me griping that he can't get his wonderful email set up?
muahahahha
and he's getting all mad that I know all this
*little secret I've been searching the forums for all his problems*
*sigh* I love the male species.
Just wanna say in advance thank you for the help with this thread :P He was trying to just call t-mobile with it, but I convinced him all that does is a 30min wait with a "pull the battery" response :P
---
Him - "I don't have a service books option!"
-Smacks head on keyboard- "Did you click the right link, the one that says setup?"
Him - "No"
"Click that one then, like I told you"
I swear... it's people like this that disgrace the bb and get an iphone. ;)
---
Yupp, got it working w00t! I wouldn't have known about this service books deal otherwise (seeing as I'm a newb, yeah I spelled it "wrong"), So once again thanks for being awesome and having problems for me, before me :P
