the release for the 8100 doesnt have to be for Tmobile. you can use any release for the 8100. check the top of the 8100 forums for the sticky, and follow the instructions on how to upgrade my OS from Main Page - BlackBerryFAQ.com

The latest official OS from TMobile for the 8100 is located at your TMo BIS website:
Unsupported Browser

There is no beta, TMo does not release beta software for public consumption.

You can download other carrier's OS for loading to your device which will work perfectly well, for instance this one here:

No, that version won't support 8gb cards.

Beta software is not available for public consumption. Period.

All the media card size support is tied to the OS installed on the device. That is available on this forum and our FAQ site. Hunt for that, too, while you are out hunting.

You go hunting and let us know what you bag.

Short hunt. I guess you didn't find the answer.

No possums, either?

Here, since you aren't looking too very hard, I'll show you the way:

You won't be too happy with the beta OS's yet--if you can even find one.

You can use your Media Card now at the 4 or 6gb size. When and if you upgrade your 8100 to a newer OS, you can format the Media card again then for the larger capacity.

Sanders and all,

i installed a new sandisk 8gb on my t-mob 8100 (replacing my 4gb)
and it works

i'm running 4.2.1.101

my phone settings/advanced/Media Card/ says:

Total Space: 7.6GB
Free Space: 7.5GB

so what's the issue?
i thought it wouldn't read it or read on 4gb?

If you format it in the device it will go back to 4Gb. Also, when you start loading it up with songs/data, you may not be able to access it all.

i mean i wont be playing let's say all 7gb worth of files just to see taht they play?

thanks guys for your suggestions...
