alright. ive decided to buy a blackberry and upgrade from my razor. and thanks for clarifiying that i can do that with my sims card on my other post. im going to get one off ebay with my tax money. i wont ever use the internet or email. i just like the looks and just want to have one. i want one mainly to listen to music and watch videos. im deciding between the pearl, 8300, or 8310. any suggestions? thanks..

Go to a store and play with them. That is the only way you will really know. You may find yourself drawn to the Pearl as it's the smallest device and you are coming from a pretty small phone. The other model would be better for video because the screen is larger. Play with them and you will find your way!

well, thanks everybody. does the pearl 8100 have a port where i can plug in my regular cd player headphones? or do they take a different kind?

8100 has a 2.5 headphone jack...you would need to by a special 2.5 - 3.5 adaptor...and the one you need is specifica to Pearl. Go with Curve or Pearl 8120 or 8130 for the 3.5 jack.

The 8100 only has the 2.5mm jack; for you to be able to use your iPod or just about any regular headphone, you need the Curve variants (83XX) and newer pearls.

8300 will be best for you by the sounds of things. You won't be able to use the maps or satnav without a blackberry data plan anyway.

You would get so much more out of your blackberry with a data plan. Although I know a lot of people get a blackberry just for the organization features. Either way enjoy your new phone.

I just ordered my 8320 yesterday after deliberating between that & the Pearl. I played with both for quite awhile in the stores. I just wasn't picking up the keyboard on the Pearl easily - to me (old guy@40) the Curve was super easy. That coupled with the larger screen for video / browser and the 3.5mm headset jack and it was a no brainer for my usage needs.

I was also told - but you never really know how accurate the sales people are - that the Curve will automatically use WiFi VoIP and not hit your airtime without you're having to do anything, whereas the Pearl had to be told to do it...? I don't know if that's really true - but again significant for me because I have a LAN at home and at work, so that feature is a plus for me.

Regardless - check them out in person first. I had to go to a few stores to find ones that fully worked etc. It was well worth the effort.

Also - I will add that T-Mobile let's you tether to your laptop if need be, whereas some other carriers will charge extra for that. One additional factor that led to my 8320 decision.
