Default BES activation times out

Please Login to Remove!

Hi I have a Blackberry pearl 8130 and I went to activate it on my employers BES and it keeps timing out. I my service provider Telus and they said I'd have to switch data plans to get on the BES. Any idea how they are blocking me from activating through my BES?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Welcome to the forums.

Did the BES Admin for your company provide you with the activation password?

Your service provider has to enable the correct data plan to allow Enterprise traffic for you on their network. If this has been set by your carrier and the activation is still not working then there are some things to be checked.

1. How long does the activation go before it fails?
2. Has your BES Admin confirmed you are added to the BES?
3. Are you receiving any strange emails in your Inbox?

There are other things to be checked but most of those would be done by the Admin. If you are not receiving strange emails in your Inbox I would check your Junk Mail folder. The email will be from [email address] with a ETP.dat attachment. If it's in your Junk Mail then lower your junk mail settings and try then activation again. Don't move one of the emails from your Junk Mail to the Inbox, it doesn't work.

If that's not the case have your admin check out this article:

We had this similar issue with an exec of ours that was on ATT. The carrier had 10 different Blackberry data plans, and we had to order the correct data plan in order to activate it on the BES.

Usually the carrier just needs to configure it on their end, in order to allow access. Without the right account we don't see the pin registering on the BES side, so it may be preventing the actual device to allow Enterprise activation.

Make sure you have an enterprise "BES" data plan, and it should work fine. (also make sure your admin gives you an activation password with an expiration long enough for you to activate it)
