Alright i have searched high and low, far and wide and for the life of me i cant figure out why any 3rd party themes just wont show up on my 8130

Some things people have suggested:
-Upgrade os. i did that im now on os 4.3.0.97 platform 3.1.0.51
-reboot phone. i have probably done this 2 dozen times in the last 4 days
-make sure the theme is compatible. i tried using a free one straight off the handango website and no dice.
-make sure the theme reader is up to date. Thats also at 4.3.0.97

So the theme gets installed in apps i see it as com_plazmic_theme_title but it just wont show up in my themes list. i have the BB zen theme and the tmobile vendor theme in there thats it.

Btw i have Verizon if it matters

Welcome to the BBF...

The carrier really doesn't matter. You should be able to use any third party 81xx theme.

For RIM produced vendors themes, only use the ones for 4.3.x (ie the 8110, 8120, or 8130).

welcome to the forum buddy. i have 8130 for verizon as well. it does work. i actually just downloaded to new themes today. eveek has a nice theme...luminous. it works...try the ota download. also, you may want to restart by pulling the battery out and putting it back.

Or, when you say you have restarted several times? Is that after you install the theme to your phone? If not, install a theme, and after the theme is installed, pull out the battery while the phone is powered on, leave it out for about 30 seconds, and put it back in and start the phone. Is the theme there now?

Post the exact links (OTA or download) you've used to install the themes you aren't seeing on your Pearl. Just want to confirm you're installing the right themes for your BB version.

Also, you should complete your BB Forums profile - click "User CP" at the top left of the forum to update your Model/Carrier info.

have you tried themes for eveek.com? i just went there today from my bb and downloaded OTA and it worked.
there is no reason why you're phone doesn accept new themes. we both have 8130 vzw.

i tried the new blue Mac theme right off the homepage. It gets installed, i pull the batt, wait a minute or so. It boots back up, and there is nothing new in the theme menu. Its installed in the apps list and everything.

This is bugging me.

i have the newest os and everything i cant figure out why this isnt working. Everything people have told me to do to fix this just wont work

I hate to ask the obvious here...you are downloading the 8100 version?

I see the 8100 was extracted under OS 4.2.1 (if you are using OS 4.3 this won't matter)..
Also..with OS 4.3, you should not have to do a battery pull to install themes.

Yes it was successfully installed. And im on 4.3 yes.

Would i be able to downgrade to the sprint one? (i think .79?) would that maybe fix the problem?

well Things are still the same for me themes not working and all.

Earlier today i ran across the today plus theme and i thought what the hey lets give it a go for old times sake. i downloaded the theme, it installed successfully. i went to the themes list, and voila! It was there! i activated it and it works like a dream.

Now. To figure out why this one worked when the bphone one and all others didnt. i checked out the modules list, and it turns out this new one is net_rim_theme_BBdimension_todayplus_240x260 instead of a com_plazmic_theme theme.

Why would one work and not the other? And can anyone direct me to any net_rim_theme themes you know of so i can test? Searches only lead me to vendor theme threads.

Thanks a bunch

RIM themes are applications where 3rd party themes are not. Basically that means they include everything they need to run.

Check under Options -> Advanced -> Applications -> Menu Key -> Modules to see if come_plazmic_themereader is installed.

Also make sure that all the Dimension themes are properly installed and available in your theme list (Icon, Today, and Zen).

Finally, are you on a BES?

Hot dog! We have a wiener!

Dimension themes MUST be installed in order to use 3rd party themes.

Exclamation Same issues

I am having the same problems except I can't get to any of the OTA items because I am blocked by corporate. So I have to find a way to add themes through either the application loader or another way. Any ideas from anyone on how to make this happen so I'm not locked down by my stupid employer on customizing my personal phone?
