Default Blackberry Messenger

Has anyone seen this yet?

http://www.blackberry.com/messenger/entry.do

I guess it turns PIN messages into more like an IM program. Sounds cool, but I don't know if (1) you have to use Version 4, and (2) if it works on 7100.

Any input?

We've known about it. Here is the BB Messenger buddy list thread:

Blackberry says that Messenger won't work with Cingular. Why? How do I get mine to work?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not positive, but I think other Cingular users have gotten it to work. Check this thread out, the Original B Messenger Thread when we first found out about it.

IF you're Cingular it's entirely possible, I've been using messenger for like 6 months, you have to edit the .ALX file for the 4.0 software installation. Do a search and you can find out how to do it

it says nothing about it not working on cingular devices. it simply states that it is not supported by Cingular Wireless. huge difference between an application working versus the carrier not supporting it (its just a disclaimer for them so they can turn away users with issues).

and FYI, for those using the version that was available in 4.0.2 of the OS, you can upgrade it to the latest version via the link above (1.0.84 vs 1.0.86).

We are setting up a new BES in my office. I am one of the admins, and don't know much about it yet. All syncs are done wirelessly.

So, my question is, how can I install this messenger? I tried to download it on my desktop (to later move to the BES server), but couldn't because I got the No Driver message "The BlackBerry USB Driver is not installed."

If I try to download it at the server I get a different message, asking me to plug in my blackberry.

So, what do I need to download it and push it out?

Thanks,
Lore

Never mind my last message. I learned that I needed the Desktop Manager installed, and that the Blackberry Messenger can't be pushed out wirelessly.

Got it installed now. COOL!!!!

sure i can be. you will need to obtain the COD files and you should be good to go. if you want to do this manually, after you've installed it (which is the only way I figured out how to do it), you can use javaloader (search for the FAQ).

javaloader -usb save <module>

the module names will be:

net_rim_bb_qm_peer_resource_en.cod
net_rim_bb_qm_peer.cod
net_rim_bb_smileys_default.cod
