I started enterprise activation today at 1:00 PM and it's still running. It's went to 90% in about an hour and since then it's taken 6 hours to go from 90% to 92%. Should I just let it run? I've got auto-off set for 10:00 PM. what will happen is the unit turns off before activation is complete?

Typically if an activation gets stuck, I just pop the battery and put it back in. It will usually complete by that point. You may have better results via wire. However, if you are in the process of doing a wireless activation and the phone is rebooted or used, then it should pick up right where it left off once data is reinitialized (usually immediately). I'm not sure about leaving it off for an extended period of time, though.

Oh yeah, to add, it usually takes about 5-30 minutes depending on what all it has to synchronize for the first time. If you have a lot of Address Book entries or Calendar appointments (or past emails in your Inbox, which are less than 5 days with a max of 200 total; or whatever your admin sets0, then it will obviously take longer (I rarely see these going more than 40 minutes and still progressing w/o a hang).

This is a wireless activation. I'm one of a 25 user Blackberry pilot program for our company. Not a lot of organic Blackberry know-how in our IT department right now.

They did me wirelessly and it was real time. After they moved me from POP to exchange mail he had me open desktop manager, plug on the device, he saw my PIN and said I was activated.

Wireless activation time will vary for each user activation, depending on the selected pre-population settings.
(one luxury you will miss out on by activating via cable)
How many contacts, e-mail and calendar items have to go (via the wireless network) to the handset etc.
I have seen varying times, usually around 20mins-1/2 hours but the longest took about 4 hours.

For me, if the Wireless Activation doesn't start within 5 minutes, I reboot the device, as for the completely activation time, depends on how much stuff you are trying to send it down. If people think they have a lot of stuff, we always set them up through the HandHeld Manager and make sure that it completes in a timely fashion.

Well it finally finished but my Lotus Notes address book did not come through. Supposedly they can push that down to my BB. Is there a way I can make it go and get the address book?

Go to the properties of your user profile and make sure under PIM Sync you have your Address Book listed as the entry so it know to sync to it. Are you using iNotes?

No just plain Notes 6.5. Are you talking about the user profile on the BB?

I have been trying to Activate 2 BB's off BES4 wireless, however, both are stopping at 92% on initializing Email Filters. Any ideas why this would be doing this. We have setup about 50 BB's using this method before, however, this is the first time we have experienced this issue.

2 things here. We've found when doing wireless activation it's always best to delete any filters (including the default ones) from the server and everything goes much faster. You can add them after if you need to but the defaults are uneccesary as they are in there and set to let everything through which is the same as no filters at all.

Syncing the PAB is achieved by first putting a copy up onto the server so the bes can see it (just set up a new replica that the bes has rights to). We put ours in a dir called user_address_books with a replication interval of 60 minutes.
Then, on the bes console, double click the user, go to pim sync and at the very bottom, put in the server and location details and all will work. Same thing is used for memo's (journal files).
