Default Is my Blackberry dead?!

Please Login to Remove!

Okay so I've had this 8130 since I'm gonna say probably Janaury or so. The last couple weeks I've had small problems with the screen going black and not responding for a moment or two while I've been using it and I just tried to log into IM+ with it today and it requested an update so I went ahead and downloaded the update and it proceeded to tell me the phone needed to restart. So I went ahead and clicked yes to restarting the phone now. And now for the last few hours the phone has been trying to reboot but then just keeps shutting off and trying again. I don't know what's wrong with it and I can't figure out a solution. If I pull out the battery it'll just continue to do the same thing once I put the battery back in.

Oh and to be more specific when it seems to be shutting down the red light on the phone comes on. After a second or two it'll turn off. A second or two after that the screen turns back on to the loading screen with the rotation hour glass and then just shuts off with the red light coming back on.

Actually it was in my pocket when I just crashed my pocket bike a few hours before hand. I actually hit a tree at around 60-70kph... The phone appeared to be fine after though until I tried to reboot it later for the update.

lol, now you tell all the story. Wow. What is a pocket bike?

Try reloading the OS fresh. But it sounds like it could be hardware issue... but a fresh OS load, if the issue continues will tell you that it is hardware related.

lol, A pocket bike is one of those very small motorcycles that are just over a foot high. I actually got a brand new one that does 120kph or something like 75mph for those of you in the States. Basically crashed it my first time out. Not used to so much power on one! So ya anyways how do I reload the operating system on it? I can't connect it with Desktop Manager or anything and I can't get the phone to start up so I can do anything with it. And the phone did start acting up a little for a couple weeks before the crash. It also seemed to work fine while I was using it for about 4 hours after. Just died when I tried to restart it.

It could be hardware related, however I did face a similar issue (due to my fault of firmware adjustment & loading) some time back! Try to reload the OS as suggested above.

PS - you know that those pocket bikes are NOT stable around 65-70mph right?! They just don't balance right. Oh and wear a helmet so that your brain's OS doesn't keep trying to reboot after your next crash! Cool?!

lol Yes I had a helmet on. My only question is how do I reload the operating system on the phone? This is my first Blackberry and I've only had it a couple months.

Follow the instructions at the top of this 8100 section of the forum, download from the Sticky Note there and follow the instructions as written. Not a big deal to do .

Okay I just reloaded the operating system and the phone is fine now. Thanks guys I didn't know you could do that if the phone wasn't turning on and staying connected to the computer. =)

I'm a new blackberry owner, and love it. I also have a 8130, for about 2 weeks now. Well i just tried loading the trial version of the IM+ program, and it's sent my BB into a restart hole just like yours, just keeps rebooting, and red light, hourglass, red light.........i don't know what the heck to do. I found this thread, and i'm going to try and reload the OS i guess, i hope i can figure this out, i'm just glad it worked for you, i'm hopping for the same. *crosses fingers*

tenMontana, welcome to the BBF.

You might try to uninstall the IM+ program first, before messing with the OS.

Options > Advanced > Applications. Find the program > Menu > Delete.
