I use the BB messenger daily all the time, and the notification icon always show the face with 1 next to it when theres no new messages. Its kinda annoying and cant make it go away. When i get new message it shows the face with 2 and an red "+" on the face next to "2" how do i make it go away, my friends have the same issue.

Battery pull

already did battery pull, then it is gone, and next few messages, its back and stuck up there again, until i do another battery pull. i cant keep doing that.

The issue may be related to an undelivered message. Rim suggests in their help site that the messenger software be deleted and reloaded new. It may be a bug in the software

On another site, it was also suggested that you resend the service books. It is worth trying since it is not an intrusive method.

If it is constant and on-going, I think you need re-load the OS, or upgrade the OS.

Also from what I hear, the messenger on this site WONT work on your phone.
The only way to download / re-install messenger on phones with 4.2 and above is through the application loader on Desktop Manager.
I'm not sure what the exact OS cut off is for that site, but I know it doesn't work with my 8100 :P. It comes up as a "non-supported device" or something
