Default Predictive text, do you find it helpful or not?

Please Login to Remove!

This goes out to the Pearl people as I am not sure that predictive text is an issue with other BBs.
I am experimenting with sure type and today will be disabling the predictive text. Sometimes i find that predictive text is very helpful and shortens typing time, other times it makes me nuts because it simply will not type what I want it to when it starts guessing wrong words. I wish that there was a quick button to toggle between sure type and multi tap with out going into the menu but I have not found any short cut for that.

There are times where the sure type is killer good and other times i sit and argue with it. There was a suggestion to nix the predictive text. It seems that it changes the feel of the sure type.

I type a lot during the day so i am trying to tweak it maximize its efficiency. I always have the option to move to a full keyboard but am still routing for the 8130 because i LOVE the size of it so I am curious to hear how many leave predictive text on and how many turn it off.
Thanks
Kalinka

The main reason I leave it off is because if I type the wrong word and press enter it saves it to the Custom Word dictionary, which I don't want. I would rather manually add words to the custom dictionary. That way I don't have to go back and clean it out too often.

OOOOh i see, you can turn it off and then add the new words on your own. I do have to go clean it out frequently. Good point.

Once you press the menu button there's only one click. Once I found out how to switch between the two while typing it now works fine for me. Before that I would scream and curse.

I disliked the phone before I turned predictive input off. Now it is the best phone I have ever had. I enjoy the SureType, and don't mind cleaning out the Custom Dictionary ever so often
