Default Missing Option Entries on my Pearl

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys,

Let me get right into it. I have been scouring the net for the past 3 days, looking for ways to get back full functionality on my 8100.

I am missing several entries under my options screen (Input, Smart Dialing, and others). And I have been desperately trying to get them back... hopefully someone can help.

I installed the latest update following the instructions from this thread: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

I deleted the vendor.xml file... But my phone is unlocked. It's branded O2, so I downloaded there OS... no luck.

I have read everything and reinstalled the OS several times. I am to the point of looking into Jl_Commander but am a little wary, don't want to brick my phone...

Anyone ever had this problem? I am at a loss...

Thank you

smart dialing should be under the phone application > menu > options > smart dialing. is that where you were looking for it? do you mean the input language? if so you should be able to choose it under either screen/keyboard or language (cant remember which).

welcome to the forums.

It sound like your device is missing the phone application and everything that goes along with it. If your not sure about using JL_Cmder then try upgrading your device OS. Make sure that the phone options are checked. They should be checked and grayed out by default.

If you do use JL_Cmder, don't worry it wont brick your BlackBerry. I have used it on countless devices and even revived some that others had given up on. Good Luck!

Need a screenshot? ... Like JavaLoader?
Try using BBscreen .....Use JL_Cmder!
or BBScreenShooter!

Thanks d_fisher,

No, the phone application is installed. I have been using the phone since I got it. There are just entries that should be listed under the Options menu, but aren't... like Smart Dialing for example... just no entry.

I really don't know why the OS is not being installed with these features... I have reinstalled at least 4 times now (wiped everything each time).

I am reinstalling the OS now with everything checked... if that doesn't work, then I'll have to try Jl_Cmd... if that doesn't work, then I just don't know :(

Thanks Sith_Apprentice, glad to be here Some great information in this place

Yes, that is the path where the option should be (Smart Dialing), but it's just not there... No entry of that kind at all...

I enter the Options menu and its not in the list. I don't know why every time I install the OS, it doesn't install some of these features...

do me a favor, try removing the SIM card and reinstalling the OS. some carriers block certain features via the SIM, and I want to test to see if this is happening.

No good. I was crossing my fingers what you were on to something... sigh. I ran Jl_comander and wiped the OS. Reinstalling now. And I am doing it without the SIM card in there... crossing fingers on this one...

If this doesn't work, then I just don't know...

Thanks for your continued help I'll give an update when the process is done.

Okay, I really think that things have just moved... I found Smart Dialing when I go into the options from the Call Log...

Could that be the simple case? I just wiped it clean and reinstalled the OS from scratch... that's gotta be the case, right?

Not sure why those entries are not found under the Options menu, but they are indeed there... maybe its due to the new version? *shrugs*

Anyway, it's going to be a pain to hunt things down, but whatever, as long as they are there.

Thanks for your help guys
