Question Device Software for 8330 Curve?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

I have a Bell Mobility Blackberry 8330 and I would like to know if anybody know of or as a link to the device software for this phone.

I realize that the CDROM included with the package will allow me to installing my applications via the Application Loader but I would like to rid my phone of some of the excess file using "John Clark's" link on saving memory space (see my signature)

Anybody have some suggestions?

there may not be one released yet. It is not on your carrier website?

Neither has Telus or the RIM technical support site.

I am hearing reports of substantial increases in available memory on the 8330. Given the physical limitations on the address bus, that can only mean BlackBerry has a new memory manager tucked into the core system.

Happy Happy Joy Joy

I had begun to think the device would be crippled by memory space. Way to go Geeks!

It's not available anywhere yet. It's strange. This is the weirdest device rollout I've ever seen. The US CDMA carriers are delaying it while Canadian carriers were rolling over one another trying to get it out first. Now RIM is not posting the necessary files to support the model for the Canadian carriers and even the 4.3 desktop software available on the site will not load apps onto the 8330.

The device has been solid for me. Really makes we wonder what all the delays are about.

No, you need to take into account formatting. Physically it's 96mb but after formatting you get 82mb usable. Try buying an 80 gig iPod. Now tell me if you can fit 80 gig's of music on it. You can't.

This hasn't been resolved yet, right? It's one weird product launch/release.

what version is the Desktop Manager software? Look in Help >About Desktop Manager.

There isn't a real dire need to go through my optimization post on the 8330 since it already comes with 30 more MB's of memory. The OS likely doesn't take up that much more space than previous OS's. Word to the wise: Don't mess with the device until software is released for it.

4.3.0.7.. but I had it installed for my 8830.. then tried to install apps and wouldn't recognize the 8330.. so I had to do an install of the DM provided on the CD that came with the phone. I didn't bother to uninstall just overwrote the DM that was on my pc

Oh for sure... I have no intentions of messing around with the phone until the Device O.S. is released. As you already know, with the device OS I'd be pretty screwed if I were to get any "JVM" loader issues.

i think the software was released today (or recently, at least - i've had my eye on it for a few days). the 8330 is listed on the drop down menu.

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E607FE7CC0E1A0

or link from telus site...

https://secure.telusmobility.com/myt...y_home_nli.jsp

hope this helps.

Default 8330 Operating System (GPS)

All, I have one of Verizon's 8330's. Great product - particularly after 10x VX6700's and 1x VX6800. Anyway, they've disabled its internal GPS so that it ONLY functions if you subscribe to their VZ Navigator (or Field Force Manager) products. Does anyone know a "work around" to enable this feature?

Thanks!

I suggest that you drop whatever you are doing and go put your anti-flame suit on immediately. I have a feeling that the heat is about to rise in here pretty soon.
