Question SQL 2005 64-bit and BES 4.1.5... yes or no?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Folks,

Does or doesn't 4.1.5 officially support SQL 2005 64-bit? Page 5 of the release notes make it sound like it does, but our TAM at RIM says not until SP6. Uhhh.... Help?

depends on which support article you look at, this one looks to be pretty recent: BlackBerry Search Results

Thanks, rsk, it definitely adds more confusion! Now to see what the TAM has to say again. :-D

As far as I've been told, 64 bit is fully supported now in SP5, as you noted, but confirmation from your TAM representative may help clarify things.

Oh, this thread is a goldmine. I rang my SP the other day who told me that 64-bit was NOT supported. I can only assume his information only applied to 4.1.[0-4], not 4.1.5.

The TAM finally came back and says 4.1.5 supports 64-BIT SQL. His answer "Oh sorry, they forgot to inform us." Inform you? Why don't you read your own service pack release notes?

Moreover, I am wondering is if something more than SQL Express (MSDE) 2005 64-bit is supported.

I say use it. If you do have any issues RIM is always going to try to support you for any issues you have. And if you do have issues then RIM can open a case with MS..
