How can I obtain the text value from a field, I am use this code but it's not correct, give me error in command campo = (EditField)field;

private class FocusListener implements FocusChangeListener {
public void focusChanged(Field field, int eventType) {
if (eventType == FOCUS_GAINED) {
EditField campo;
campo = (EditField)field;
aviso = campo.getText();
Dialog.inform(aviso);
}
}
}
FocusListener listener = new FocusListener();
