Default Boost and Blackberry?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi.

There was a discussion about this on howard forums - personally I take everything I read there with a grain of salt. However, I just wanted to know what you guys think.

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=654452

They're saying they were able to provision service with a blackberry by using it with Boost instead of Nextel. In regards to how they did it (by unlocking and/or Boost SIM - I dont know) stilll they claim to simply pay the boost fee of .25 cents per day and we're able to bypass the $44.99 BB plan.

Honestly, this is a little upsetting - but still in regards to exactly "what" they can do with the BB on Boost is beyond me, and not mentioned in the thread.

Just wanted to know what you guys thought, that's all.

Josh

this is wrong, the blackberry data is tied to the imei and not the sim. you can change chips all you want and the data is still tied to the same account. you can use a boost chip for voice but that is it.

that's definately BS!!

If your sim isn't registered in there systems you can't be authorized on the network to get any voice or data...

I think this might be possible because the sim cards are all the same, but the data would be only the WAP (wireless application protocol) browser because you have to be set up on ebclient in order to get the HTML browser....at least that is the way we help our customers get it. Now I don't think you could call in and ask for the bb7520 to be activated in the system because Boost doesn't offer that service. Besides that policy is that if you have a BB showing in the system you are REQUIRED to have bb email and web. Make sense??

Lets get something straight here...

The blackberry service is a 'feature' that is added onto a current gsm account. That account must be capable of full internet access and have the corresponding gprs feature active on the sim, then have the blackberry feature added on top of that.

Without having both full-internet gprs AND the blackberry service on your sim, the blackberry unit will not even CONNECT to the blackberry network (uppercase GPRS on the device) and thus provide you with BB connectivity.

They may be using the browser, but that's it. They definately aren't getting emails.

From what I read, you have to use the reqwireless e-mail client because the blackberry e-mail client is 100% dependent upon blackberry service to work.

Then you can download and send mail but it will not push like blackberry mail. Your phone will not buzz when you get mail.
