Hi,

Just a newbie question, i just bought 8700g which was on O2 UK network before, now it's unlocked.

Do i have to download the latest software of O2 UK (O2 accredited version of the 8700g handheld code 4.2.1.101) or can i install the Hutchinson one??.

Also what's the difference between both??

Thx in advance for the advice.

mowvich, you can load this latest OS version with no problem. Follow the instructions above, removing the vendor.xml file as instructed, and you will be fine.

I don't the exact differences between the two OS versions, reading this thread will give you some clues.

Installed this update yesterday and woks like a charm. I'm a little disappointed that you can't unlock by clicking the wheel twice. Perhaps I will check with some friends from RIM and report back

thank you for a new version

i have a question on how to upgrade though:
i already upgraded my BB 8820 using the file i downloaded from the link posted in the respective thread. i also executed then the downloaded file.

now, coming back to 8700 upgrade: if i execute the file downloaded from this thread, will it conflict somehow with files created for 8820?

please note that i have one PC with one DM and 2 blackberries (8820 & 8700f)

please help me how to proceed in this case?

any help is appreciated.

Default Korean language support

I just upgraded OS for my BB (t-mobile 8700g) to 4.2.1.107 ( I believe this is the latest version you can get from t-mobile site). Unfortunately, this version does not have Korean (and other asian languages such as Chinese and Japanese) language support. I just want to be able to read Korean.

Does anyone know this latest OS 4.2.1.192 has Asian language support (esp. Korean in my case)?

If not, does anyone know where I can get net_rim_font_korean.cod and
dynamic_transcoding_data_KO.cod? Looks like other than korean.alx (which I have), these are ther other two file I need.

Thanks!

I suggest finding a copy from one of the Asian carriers on this list:

BlackBerry Operating System Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ

Usually a CJK in the file name indicates support for Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

Is there going to be a OS 4.5 for the 8700, or probably not?

Just a silly thought...is there going to be a conflict if I use the newest DM (4.5) to upgrade my 8700c to 4.2, and then later to upgrade my 8320 to 4.5 (whatever the official and final TMo release is)? Do I install the phone OS separately and then uninstall one when I want to do the other upgrade?
