I wouldn't consider the 7100 newish. I'd call it old. It also doesn't have WiFi.
Without a BlackBerry Data Plan, you will not be able to use e-mail.

yeh, but im mainly buying the BB, i guess now one higher then 7100, because of the txting ease of it all. also, i just wanted to know how easy it is to connect to wifi. like say i was walking around town and found a hot spot, or at my gf's house. is it easy to just connect to wifi?

No WiFi on the devices that don't have WiFi... so it would be pretty difficult on the 7100.

WiFi is on the 8320, 8820, and 8120. On those models, it is fairly simple.

And to get your e-mail, you need a BlackBerry data plan.

I think you need to study blackberry devices a bit more before you make a change. As others have said, the 7100 is an older device (in technology years) and does not have wifi. Also, without paying for the blackberry data plan (extra) you will not get email. Don't make a mistake and purchase this device before realizing what you will and will not be able to do. Read a lot of the threads here and you will learn all you need to know.

Depends on what you're looking for, really. I know plenty of BB owners who don't use email (i.e. don't have a BB data plan). YMMV.

too true takeshi, im not all about e-mail. but i would most likely get one with wifi, so i guess the 7100 is out of the line up. there are more reasons for getting a BB then just e-mail....maybe il get a plan when i become a lawyer or something....hahaha

anyhoo, im a trainee web designer so i dont need it yet.
