Default Need Help: 8320 Gps

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone. I just purchased a new 8320 with the prior knowlege of being able to use the GPS without needing to purchase a data package. Im trying to use the gps from the phone right now and all it shows is a green grid. No streets no thing.. couple questions if someone can help ;)

1.) am I using it wrong? or is it just not working?
2.) are there any GPS programs for the 8320bb that I can install and would work?

Any suggestions or knowledge would be greatly apprecaited as I have ad this phone for 24 hours now and love it. just dissapointed with this GPS atm :(

Thanks.

The 8320 doesn't have GPS built in. That could be a problem.
Do you have an external GPS puck?

Additionally, you won't get any maps (just the green grid) because you don't have a data plan. All map data comes over the network.

There is NO GPS on your 8320. The device doesn't have GPS in it. You have to purchase a separate GPS receiver. That's what I do with my 8320.

Even if you have it, you still need a data plan to make it work.

Using map data can run your data useage up pretty good. It depends on how often you'd use it. I think you'd blow right through 1.5Mb. Again, you still need to buy a GPS receiver like this one: Freedom Input Ltd - Freedom Keychain GPS 2000 in order to use it.

You could use google maps, but it won't show your exact location. Your device doesn't have GPS built in. The Curve 8310 has GPS and no WiFi; the Curve 8320 has WiFi but not GPS.

But you still need a data plan, even for Google maps.
