Default Live Messenger

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to get Live Messenger on my BB8320.

First off, will Live Messenger work thru the WiFi or only Data?

I get the error : Handheld does not have the required service books. Please visit http://www.blackberry.com/livemessenger

When I do thaty I get broswer incorrect -- Windows. This web page uses activeX controls only in MS Intenet Explorer...etc...

Any advice?

You cant use any hotmail or live messenger account with your 'berry unless you registered for one before 2000

When i said registered for, i meant if you got your hotmail account before 2000 then you can register it to your blackberry, however if not you have to sign up for Hotmail Plus which naturally means paying for it.
Yes, the P word.

doe is right, I signed up for hotmail in 1998 and it works for free on the Blackberry. Not worth paying for IMO, gmail is free and doesn't add a ad to the bottom of your email.

Ok guys. I believe cory is talking about MSN messenger....

As for the answer to that as I said in my replied email to you corey. You won't be able to as you need the services book MSN to work. And as far as I know only the CDMA carrier push those service books.

But why pay for Hotmail when you can get an AOL or Googlemail account for free!!??
Not trying to start an argument here btw, i just dont believe in paying for something that doesnt need paying for.

The answer is simple really, if you think about it.

What incentive is there to pay for Plus? Obviously, those who are attached to their Hotmail accounts.

I for one am one of those whose primary emails are with Hotmail, and upon trying to get push mail for Hotmail, it does not work.

Get a gmail account? That's easier said than done right? Migrating to a new email when I've been using this one for yonks? That's too much of a hassle.

Live Messnger works great on my 8320. Send yourself the service books then do a battery pull. If that doesn't work call your service provider... or maybe it only works because i have T-mobile. I see you have Fido, not sure if they support WLM

Live messenger is a carrier specific application, meaning they have to offer it for you to use it. The only carriers I know of that currently offer it are Telus and T-Mobile (possibly Bell, but I'm basing that off bus ads). No matter what you do, you won't be able to use the current version on another carrier.

I believe it was announced at WES that RIM would be offering it for all devices sometime this summer, but until then you will have to use a 3rd party solution.
