Default Yahoo and hotmail mail on blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to add Yahoo account on my BIS but everytime i try to add Yahoo account i get the below message:

To add your Yahoo!® email account, you must first enable POP (Post Office Protocol) access within Yahoo!. To enable POP access within Yahoo!, click here to open Yahoo!'s support page and follow the instructions. Once you have enabled POP access to your Yahoo! account, return to this page.

>>I want to add a different email account.

>>I have enabled POP access to my Yahoo! email account and want to add it.

If i click on the above link it takes me to the link(Mail) which is of no help.

I have tried to add using both ISP internet site and device but no luck. It doesn't even work for hotmail. I am successfully able to add the hotmail account but it doesn't fetch any mails.

Can't we add free yahoo and hotmail accounts on blackberry?

Thanks

older Hotmail accounts, yes. The newer hotmail accounts, no. You will need Hotmail Plus for that.

I don't understand your Yahoo mail issue, never seen that error---unless there are yahoo accounts overseas that are not configurable.

Is there anyone who can help me with the yahoo issue? I have tried with 2-3 accounts and its the same for all.

I'm in no way an expert, but when I first got my pearl I looked at putting my hotmail account through.

It's not a lot of money to upgrade to Hotmail plus, which allows the BB push technology to work - but do you really want all that guff about casino's/xxxxxx/meds etc beeping you at every waking hour due as the account doesn't filter the spam before sending - I didn't

I would search Yahoo's help section, they advertise intigration with BB so they might have a fix somewhere.

Some say the Hotmail accounts must be previous year 2000, but even that is not a hard and fast rule, I have heard of some created prior to that which would not cooperate.

I sync yahoo via BIS. I haven't had any problems. Have you tried calling your carrier and having them walk you through it?

Between the several FAQs dealing with this matter, there is very little left for a carrier to do, but that might be what is needed.

Hotmail has disabled access to getting emails permanently if you have a free account sometime in the last week of may ......

You have to get a paid account (windows live hotmail plus) in order to get POP access...

There is an alternative to just view emails via your browser.... but thats way more data..... do not have time to do a write up for the browser configuration to make hotmail work ...... but go to browser config... enable java script and in general settings there is a javascript check box as well....

Most important is to set emulation mode to pocket pc ... default is blackberry...
You can find this setting for browser in browser> options> browser config

yep, i've had my hotmail account since 1997 and it was grandfathered in and i can forward and have pop access for free. i just set it to forward to my gmail and not even bother with pop. i receive so much junk in hotmail...gmail's spam filter helps filter that stuff out.

I would suggest you talk to customer support of your carrier, Etisalat.

Don't waste your time trying to add yahoo account to etisalat blackberry. Call the carrier and they may be able to explain it to you.

I've heard so many people say that you need a Hotmail Plus account in order to add Hotmail to your BB. Here's my experience...

I've had my main hotmail account since August of 1999 and upgraded to a Plus Account a couple of months back. Added it to my BB without any problem. Then I created a brand new hotmail account and tried to add this one to my BB. Wouldn't work... until...
I added the account in Windows Live Mail.

Once the account was added I was able to add it to my BB without any problems as well.

Now, I'm not sure why I was able to add my main account right away. Could be one of three reasons:

1. Because it was grandfathered.
2. Because it is a Hotmail Plus Account.
3. Because I had it added to Windows Live Mail.

I think it was either reason 1 or 2 (or maybe both).

The new account I created I was only able to add to the BB after adding it to Windows Live Mail.

So, if you have trouble adding your Hotmail account, download Windows Live Mail, add the account there and try again.

Yup. I've had mine (standard free account) since 1998 and it's a no-go on my Blackberry. I get the error message "There was a problem with validation of your account. Please check your settings..."

Did you by any chance try the approach I mentioned above? I'm wondering if my case was just an isolated incident or if it works for any newly created hotmail email address.

I converted from standard Hotmail to Windows Live Hotmail (but still free) a while ago, maybe 6 months. With no premium Hotmail account I don't think I'm going to have any luck with this.

I created a brand new Windows Live Hotmail account about two weeks ago. At first, as mentioned previously, I was unable to add it to my BB. However, once I added it to Windows Live Mail I was able to add it.

To avoid any misunderstanding, Windows Live Mail is an E-Mail Client. See here. With Microsoft changing the names for their products every five seconds it can be a little confusing.

I'm a Mac user. I use Opera to access my Hotmail through the Windows Live portal, Windows Live Home
A while back MS gave everyone the option of using the new Live portal or sticking with the old Hotmail one. I chose the Live option but had a devil of a time getting past the sign in screen with Safari. Opera did the trick, so now it's my dedicated Hotmail Live app.

Here's a screenshot: http://homepage.mac.com/rseijas/.Pictures/hotmail.jpg
(too big to post or host here)
