Thanks Ted! I got mine working after making some adjustments to the MDS proxy setting. It's working just fine.

You rock!! Thank you so much!! I have a 7100t from T-Mobile. And I had no problems installing it the first time, and it works like a charm.

Unhappy

I am having the problem with BBCorrector changing the spacing after correcting a word. I have BBCorrector 1.0 on my 7100t and I am using the Free BBConector Server set up at http://www.rebreathertech.com:81/cgi...ctorServer.cgi From reading this Thread, it seems like the server part was updated to fix this problem. I have looked at the posts concerning the error and can't figure out if I need a newer/different version of BBCorrector. Anyone worked through this yet and can let me know what I'm missing? Thanks.

I keep getting bad DNS for the spellcheck as well as other apps. This just started happening today. Any suggestions? BB 7520 on Nextel.

If you getting that error on more than one app did you try to do a full reboot of the BB?

I ran into this on my server... Looks like we corrected it in a similar manner, but on first look I imagine that the code posted still has issues with certain characters... like accented characters (i.e. résumé)

Will compare later. Its the weekend!

gwgaston,

You are correct. My modified code (cgi and php) fails on "résumé." I didn't think to check that because I didn't know you could get those characters on a blackberry. So do your changes work? And if so, what are they?

Thanks,
Josh

no luck here... 7290 with bes 4.0 i see the spelling option but when i try to spell check it says "BBCorrector Error: could not fopen tunnel - failed"

and i copied and paste the server url with port 81 so there is no way i mispelled it????

and when i leave the MDS unchecked i get the IT policy error..

someone mentioned whiping the bb and installing everything over...

if i whipe my bb Options-> Security whipe handheld, will i have to go through Enterprise Activation again?? not sure if i had to go through it last time or not its been a while since i whiped it...

You might be being blocked by the BES probally due to the port being used. If you do wipe the BB you would have to go through the activation process again. The easiest thing would be to check with the IT department and see if port 81 is being blocked and also see if they can open it if it is.

I haven't tried this in my BB but you can try to goto one of my backup web pages on the same server as the spell check. http://www.rebreathertech.com:81

If your in IT can't you just check on the BES to see if it is open and or allowed? I know being in IT is a big place could be anything from Helpdesk to a Network Engineer so you might not have access to the BES.

Have you tried any other chat programs some might work accross default ports I know ramble used something other than 80.

Default Disable MDS?

Hi folks, I've been looking through this forum, and I have but one question.

Where and how do I disable MDS or the MDS Proxy? I've searching for it in my options, but I can' find it anywhere.

Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

btw, I'm using a 7230, with a BES.

Ted i have no access to see what ports are open or not that is up to the firewall team but i do have access to our bes servers and i did check the IT policy and for now nothing is blocked, however our bes servers go through the nat servers which are all controlled by the firewall guys who determine what ports are open or not...

i guess this will be another app ill add to the can not use list

i had no problems getting into your site on my BB with the BB browser but the Cingular browser gave me an error
net.rim.device.cldc.io.waphttp.WAPIO exception ... Error Code:51

I too have found that on my Nextel 7520, I have to check the box "Disable MDS Proxy" then it works.
I was attempting to set this up on my own server but hey, if someone else did it, then fine, I don't have to set mine up anymore.

If you don't mind, can you give any details on what you did to get it set up?
BTW, thanks.

The MDS proxy is on the main screen in the BBCorrector where you entered the URL for the spell checker server. It's at the bottom and is a check box. Just scroll to it and hit your space bar, then hit the scroll and save.

With the 7520 there is also a free a spell check as well provided by Nextel as well. Funny thing was I set up the server and within days of it being setup Nextel sponsered the free spell check. I still have both on my BB and use both as well.

I can sure help you set one up but as to how would depend on what OS you would use. I haven't been able to set it up on my main server since that is Novell so I put it on another server that is running Linux.
Just let me know what OS you would be using for the server and than I can tell you what you would have to do. There are some great posts on this board that is how I set it up.

Ted
