I've been messing with my MIDI editor to see if I can come up with ringtones that squeeze whatever volume they can from the 7200-series BlackBerry. Alternating tones with a pause seem to grab your attention better than steady and continuous tones.
As a result, here are four new ringtones. Each is 14 seconds long with two one-second pauses built in. Apparently, the BlackBerry doesn't handle MIDI pauses very well. It treats them like stuck MIDI notes. I got around this by putting in softer high-pitched notes as place keepers, so don't be alarmed if you think you hear something during the pauses. Your hearing aid isn't on the fritz.
To listen to and install the four ringtones:
(1) Visit
http://davidenglish.com/wml/index.wml with your BlackBerry
(2) Choose "Non-Musical MIDI Ringtones"
(3) Select "14 Seconds 2 Tones High Low," "14 Seconds 2 Tones Low High," "14 Seconds 2 and 3 Tones," or "14 Seconds 3 and 2 Tones"
