All carriers should be releasing 4.5 over time.

Took the plunge and updated my 8800 on ATT last week with 4gb san disk memory card
-Initial upgrade didn't work with my memory card - the constant rebooting problem
removing the SD card did help though and used it very briefly
-Decided to wipe clean the 8800 and start from scratch by using the JL_Cmdr tool
-Reinstall 4.5 and reloaded back up, and my third party software one by one, a clean
wipe and install is definitely the way to go, I agree with that statement
-The memory card is another story....I backed up and reformatted the card, empty not a problem with the 4.5 and 8800.
-A simple copy and paste...caused the rebooting problem, so I bite the bullet and send the pictures from a mac via bluetooth to my phone, one by one ( I did created the folders first though through the phone)
-I finished one folder through sending via bluetooth it took...
-Subsequently I had luck by copying an entire folder directly on the memory card..where I avoided to copy the .bat thumbnail file...

Not sure if I was lucky or if there was some sort of logic behind it...but it seems like starting with some manual picture downloading and then complete copy and paste of entire picture folders did work without the 8800 to reboot.

All in all, I am pleased, the OS seems to be faster..and the new media application is quite good...however, don't see it as an earth shattering evolution though, I guess once the new BIS software gets loaded in the US, maybe something else will surface!

No other issues to report...in the way I am using my phone from the previous OS; but also no real improvement to call quality, or so..either, hence, I am not sure if there was anything on that end that has been corrected or got better, at least I don't detect it.

I do see that the fonts and overall visibility of text has improved..web browser and email.

Thanks to the forum and all the helpful tips and tricks, it definitely help to educate myself upfront

Cheers,
R

Default OS 4.5 working on the 8800, but bluetooth won't enable

Thanks for the tip - removing the memory card solved my problem, however I can't get the bluetooth to enable. It just hangs....... any ideas? Thanks

Worked fine for me, except that out of all my apps, JiveTalk does not work--everything else seems fine. I keep getting NullPointerException errors. I may need to delete and reinstall it. But otherwise I'm very happy thus far.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

Did you install docs To Go? You need docs to go installed or some apps throw those errors, including jiveTalk

I was running the latest Rogers 8800 code before the upgrade. I'm noticing that my battery life is taking a hit with 4.5.

Anybody else noticing this?

I'll report back once I get that done.

I've actually noticed an improvement...I can probably get 5-7 days if I'm not GPS'ing.

8800 on TMO

Stuck.

I have the berry icon/ pc icons showing on my handheld.

The DM screen shows "Task In Progress - Retrieving wirelessly delivered app modules-
Retrieving module "GoogleSync_40_en.cod"

Its been stuck there for about 50 mins.

Ideas?

TIA

That did it--everything running beautifully now. (Aside from my having destroyed another Seidio holster--I am hard on equipment, apparently.)

Anyone tried 4.5 on a UK T-Mobile 8800? I only ask as the first post has a warning that it can fry the sim, but I dont know if that is T-Mobile US, UK or both.

Finally got it loaded and running but Jive Talk will not start up.

"java lang. Null Pointer Exception NUL" is the pop up error message.

Anyone?

Are there a lot of benefits on upgrading the software on the 8800 ? It looks to be somewhat difficult to do if you mess up on the upgrading process.

It looks like that the calendar reminder shows up on the home screen if I missed the event when the initial reminder pops up, after i upgraded to 4.5. Going back to the "old event" and removing or going into the actual event, plus changing any of the settings doesn't help to removed the missed calendar event count.

I am able to get the reminder removed by hardreset the unit...I remove the battery...is there another way to reset? There used to be the alt-num=del , but it doesn't work in 4.5 I believe..

Welcome BlackBerry 8800 User!
My version of 4.5 did NOT have any Docs to Go application thus I have NO registration number thus I CANNOT even load the standard edition (or premium edition).

Anyone?

Hi - one thing I noticed about 4.5 is that the <ALT-CAP-DEL> does not do a soft reset to my Blackberry 8800 anymore. Is there a new three key stroke command for this?
