Took the plunge and updated my 8800 on ATT last week with 4gb san disk memory card
-Initial upgrade didn't work with my memory card - the constant rebooting problem
removing the SD card did help though and used it very briefly
-Decided to wipe clean the 8800 and start from scratch by using the JL_Cmdr tool
-Reinstall 4.5 and reloaded back up, and my third party software one by one, a clean
wipe and install is definitely the way to go, I agree with that statement
-The memory card is another story....I backed up and reformatted the card, empty not a problem with the 4.5 and 8800.
-A simple copy and paste...caused the rebooting problem, so I bite the bullet and send the pictures from a mac via bluetooth to my phone, one by one ( I did created the folders first though through the phone)
-I finished one folder through sending via bluetooth it took...
-Subsequently I had luck by copying an entire folder directly on the memory card..where I avoided to copy the .bat thumbnail file...
Not sure if I was lucky or if there was some sort of logic behind it...but it seems like starting with some manual picture downloading and then complete copy and paste of entire picture folders did work without the 8800 to reboot.
All in all, I am pleased, the OS seems to be faster..and the new media application is quite good...however, don't see it as an earth shattering evolution though, I guess once the new BIS software gets loaded in the US, maybe something else will surface!
No other issues to report...in the way I am using my phone from the previous OS; but also no real improvement to call quality, or so..either, hence, I am not sure if there was anything on that end that has been corrected or got better, at least I don't detect it.
I do see that the fonts and overall visibility of text has improved..web browser and email.
Thanks to the forum and all the helpful tips and tricks, it definitely help to educate myself upfront
Cheers,
