Default Push Services

Please Login to Remove!

I did not see anyone point this out but under the new Blackberry Help->Extras-> Push Services you can add weather to be pushed to your device in two ways. One, It will email you the current weather with a globe icon in your message list. When you click on it will take you to the 5-day forecast. Secondly, it will put a icon on your main screen and when you scroll to it, it will show the current temp. Again this will be updated twice a day and once clicked on it takes you to the 5-day forecast. When it is updated it shows a globe icon near the BB Messenger icon.

http://mobile.blackberry.com/categoryextras/Extras.html

Pretty neat, but it is just as simple to go to the browser and select the bookmark for your weather if you have it.

I looked all over my BB and couldn't get to that link the way you described. However I was able to manually go to that address and I'm checking it out now.

That happened to me when I tried to put in Boulder, CO. The others I added (various NC/SC cities) I had no trouble.

PingGuy The link should show up in your message list.

We are unable to identify your handheld. Typically this is caused by using the wrong BlackBerry Browser to access this service. Please ensure that you are using the browser called "Internet Browser".

This is the message that I get when I try it. I have a Cingular 7290, version 4.0, BIS.

Any advice?

phone_caller, it is not the handheld that cannot be identified, its the location I am putting in that cannot be identified, and I am using the internet browser I am on BWC on a 7250.

Well finally i got it to work but I am a bit unhappy since the problem is that not all cities like other weather information centers are covered. The closest city that is covered near me is a good 10 miles away. But I will try it and see. By the way the way I did it was by filling in just the state and going down the list to see what city was nearest me. Thanks to all fo rthe help including Pete the plazmic webmaster who was the one that messaged me with the idea.

See Dawg I was spoiled by both BBToday and BBWeather they both give me not only my home town weather but my work and my real home town in Puerto Rico even, where this service gives a close idea from home and that is it. At any rate what i wanted to do I accomplished which was to get it working, there are a lot of applications that I download to test if they work, I save it on a BB directory even if i am not using it now. I do that in case I need it in the future and either do not remember where to get it from or if it is no longer available. I am not really upset I got it to work and now i move on to the next challenge.

I get this same message... and I have a 7250 form Verizon. I have been getting this same message since I got my BB last April or May.

When I wrote to Blackberry about it (Figuring the page didn't recognize the phone cause it was brand new at the time) the Blackberry folks said that they don't provide support and that I would need to contact Verizon... When I called Verizon they said that I needed to contact Blackberry.

Basically the folks at Blackberry and the folks at Verizon don't want to deal with the issue... so they shove it off on somebody else.

Anyway, if anybody ever figures out how to make this work for Verizon that would be great... Or perhaps I am missing some setting on my phone.
