Default Voice Note Not Working on 4.5?

Please Login to Remove!

I can't seem to play a voice note through BB Messenger, whenever I try playing it, it will only say Buffering and it won't play.

A buddy of mine has 4.5 also and same thing is happening to his.

Any of you guys experiencing this issue?

That's a known bug.

Oh well, it's not really a big deal.

Anyone know how to fix the bug? Kind of annoying as I have lots of Messenger contacts and they all send voicenotes.

For all those who want a quick work-around, try saving the voicenote and listening to it in the Voicenotes or Media Player applications. Seems to work for me (though v tedious getting there when a click of the Pearl did it before!!!)

The only fix is to wait for an update. I heard the bug was fixed in .48 (not yet released.)

What OS are you running? The issue I have is that I can receive Voice Notes through Messenger, but when Messenger goes to open them, it opens the Media Player and tries to play them through there, rather than the previous version where it played them 'within' the player. Could this be the issue, and perhaps there is a way to play the note without going to the new Medial Player?

You can play the voicenote if you save it first. Again, it's a known bug in some of the 4.5 OS's and is fixed in later versions.

Thanks - I had noticed the save and listen feature worked before (see earlier posts), but it is pretty annoying. The whole point of the Messenger Application is that you can listen to a voice note quickly and simply without the need for pressing lots of buttons.

Any idea when the .48 will be released on Vodafone?

Also, you may be able to help - am I right that using Messenger will just mean that you eat into your data package, rather than any SMS / MMS packages that you might have with your carrier?

Many thanks,
Neil

I have no idea when .48 will be released. I merely posted that so that you know that it's been addressed and will be fixed in later revisions.

Yes, BBMessenger uses pin messaging which uses your data plan.

Thanks John. I guess I will have to wait for Vodafone UK to pull their finger out and gear up for the latest releases. Feels rather strange to be going to the German carrier's site to get OS for my UK phone (what with Vodafone being a UK company and all!), but patience is a virtue and all that!

Thanks again,
Neil
