If I purchase the GPS navigation plan from Verizon for my 8330, will I be able to sign up with a tracking service and my friends and family be able to seemlessly view my location from a website? Currently, I have Google Maps installed on Blackberry, however the 1700 meter differential is a lot less precise than I would like, without the use of Verizon's GPS service.

There are differing opinions on whether you can or canNOT get other gps software to run once you have Verizon's Navigator for $10/month. I am not sure why there is not a definitive answer but maybe it depends on both the type of BB and which OS is installed on it. I do not know if Navigator provides tracking details to others via some website or not.

Some folks just go for the 3rd party solution - and get a separate gps puck and then use whatever software they want.

I've got a 8330 and VZ Nav. In order for me to get another GPS program to work, I have to open VZ Nav and then switch programs with it running in the background for anything else to work.

NickfromIL, I can't get mine to work with instamapper. I tried running VZ Navigator in the background while using instamapper, but I'm not having success. Instamapper never switches from the Locating status to the Tracking status. I contacted instamapper's support, but all they said was that it won't work on a Verizon phone. Are you running BB software version 4.3? Can you think of what I might be missing that is preventing me from using instamapper successfully?

I am running OS 4.5.0.33, which may be the difference. Also, I am running the VZ Navigator for the Pearl, not the Curve. Not sure why it would matter, but those are the only things I can think of.

The latest version that is available on Verizon's website is 4.3. Do I need to go to blackberry.com or some other source to get version 4.5?

Unfortunately it's not released yet, but hopefully it will be soon (once its not nearly as buggy.)
