Well I decided to smell mine and I'll be darned if it doesn't smell exactly like fake maple syrup! Seriously!

Come to think of it, I know why it smells like that. I have been in the screen printing industry for fifteen years, and that is the UV curable ink that they used to print the label for the battery. Some UV inks have that exact sweet smell after they are cured.

Warning all NA BB. Smelling battery causes severe memory leak. Also, after smelling error 576 appears when running OS 4.6. Do not smell your battery is you are in NA. Very Bad!

the person right above you explained why it has the smell. I guess you didnt read the thread and see all the people had the same smell. I doubt very seriously that everyone had pancakes and forgot to wash their hands.

Oh my gosh...I just now got back to this thread...I love the going green comment, but more importantly, I'm glad there is some explanation for the smell and that I wasn't the only one.

Anyway, obviously there are some very humorous people on this board and I certainly appreciate that because this thread made me laugh.

Yeah...I see the UV curable ink comment, although...many people said their battery smelled like plastic or nothing...so....and mine doesn't smell like maple syrup to me. And hey, I was making a funny.

It does make one think, does your battery smell change over time? Or does it just absorb the smell of its surrounding environment? I hesitate in saying this is food for thought considering i wouldn't reccomend people eating their batteries!
