Because those of us on IDEN love the direct connect feature of the phone. If Blackberry didnt have DC I wouldnt own one plain and simple. I have had all the other carriers and hated them all I was with out a cell phone provider until nextel hit the market.

Too funny!! I can't believe how worked up people are getting over this poll! Believe me, I've seen some threads I thought to be less "educated" than this one. Personally, I like getting the individual feedback from all these different BB users who have different needs and use their BB's for different purposes. I say good conversation overall.

Since Direct connect, BT and GPS were important to me, the 7520 was my only choice. Coverage and CS have not been issues with me.

I TOTALLY agree with Dawg!! I love the DC....even though nobody DCs me it's always me DC them sorry a$$ friends lmao ... I think the poll was generally done in good intentions, but yes it should have been more in detail and had all the BB. Oh and by the way....when do my thumbs start to hurt, dang you can only post so many times about things.... LOL!!

It seems to me that you just like "posting/typing" to build your number of posts even though what YOU write IS SENSELESS.
This post is rude.

The poll is dumb for many reasons. First off, you're missing options. There's much more than 4 series of Blackberry devices. Maybe there's people out there who feel the 957 or the 6230 is still the "best".
The word "dumb" or "stupid" isn't something I use as a moderator. A moderator has a lot of tolerance. Sometimes some of us use different techniques. I rarely tell people to use the search button, while others like to constantly remind people about that. (To the point where people complain about the moderators in the Lounge forum! ) But I can be negligient in other ways - some of the other moderators now visit the forum a bit more often than I do, because I have been way too busy, with things like Idokorro work and my skydiving hobby.

A moderator is open minded: Surprise; I still think the 957 device is actually the best one for certain types of use -- the Mobitex networking was the only one working during September 11th, 2001 in New York City. The Florida hurricanes last year also tested the various networks in a disaster situation, and while GSM/GPRS has made huge advances, there were still cases where Mobitex still worked better.

This poll undoubtedly has flaws, but it's not a totally illegitimate poll. Constructive debate is welcome (i.e. 7750 versus 7780.... 7210 versus 7290.... to explain why the poll is too narrow). This poll is far less dumb than some of the polls that all our governments give us anyway... (yours and mine included.)

Hey Mark, I work in downtown Manhatten. From what I remember and from talking to people on different networks (Cingular, ATT, TMOB, Verizon) in NYC, Nextel was the ONLY service available on 9/11/01. I was able to get in touch with several friends and family members and confirm their safety.

The 7250 is a CDMA-specific model for Verizon and Bell Canada (and soon Sprint).

That may be true among voice networks...

But among the data capable networks, Mobitex was one of the only ones as far as I remember... Mobitex doesn't do voice (remember those old BlackBerries that did not have a cellphone built in?)

There was no such thing as a BlackBerry with a cellphone in 2001. They were all simply two-way pagers (Inter@ctive Mail, etc)

First of all I was not knocking Next-2-Hell... it's just something I've been calling them since I have been working in the wireless industry. We all know that every carrier has their strengths and weaknesses. Yes, it all depends on what works for you. I personally have worked for Nextel, SprintPCS/Spectrum, ATTWS and I am presently working for Cingular. I know wireless like the back of my hand, I have worked most carriers minus Verizon Wireless, however, they work off the same technology as SprintPCS-CDMA except, SprintPCS uses the highest freq of CDMA in the market.

Nextel and Sprint has strong service in MAJOR METROPOLITANT area where Cingular and Verizon is strong in both major cities as well as the "boonies." Let's not forget that T-Mobile is awesome overseas and their international network is as strong as the well known ORANGE and Vodaphone.

IMO, Nextel is by far the weakest network for me while Cingular Wireless and SprintPCS is more reliable for me. I am sure there are a lot of people who disagree with me but that's fine... "to each their own." What works for you may not work for someone else. That is why there are so many carriers for people to choose from. Generally speaking, Cingular has about 50 million customers and Verizon has about 48 million. Those 2 companies are the most reliable in my opinion. Nextel has a very strong WALKIE TALKIE network but their VOICE service is really lacking but apparently it's enough to keep them competitive in the market.

My purpose of this POLL was to find out which BB people like the most as there are many people like myself that have used multiple BB devices ie., 7280-90, 7100G and T. I only wanted people's honest opinion. This was not intended to piss people off and for people to make rude and unneccessary negative comments. I was rather disgusted with how a few people responded. I was under the impression that most BB users were mature people but I understand no one is perfect.... Anyways...
