I just got my new Alltel 8330 (Curve) loaded BB Alerts right away. I'm having the same problem as I did with the Pearl - no notification on SMS (and now MMS). It seems like since Alltel released OS 4.3, BB Alerts won't work for SMS. When I had my 8703e and my 8830 (both of which ran 4.2), the notification for SMS worked fine. It stinks, because I love this program!!

The only way I could get SMS to work was to disable my firewall in Options > Security > Firewall and then do a hard reset (remove the battery). For some reason I also have to have voicemail checked for it to work. In the call log when I recieve a SMS it says I have new voicemail. Does not bother me though because I just want my phone to beep if I missed a call or SMS like all my other phones did.

Handango also worked fine with my PayPal. Got my registration key within 5 minutes.

Thanks for this software!
How did you disable your firewall? I don't seem to have that option on my Alltel Curve...

I had to disable my firewall, too, to get SMS notification to work.

Options > Security Options > Firewall > Status > Disabled
When I choose Firewall, it says "Enabled." When I select options so I can switch it to "Disabled," I find no option to allow me to disable it. Is there somewhere else I need to go? Is it possible Alltel won't allow you to disable it?

When you go there, highlight Enabled and press the "0", (zero) key to change the option. Press the Escape key to save.

I have Alltel and the Firewall is user customizable.

I'm sorry. I need to change my profile info. I have a Curve now and pressing the 0 doesn't do anything. I can't find a way to bring up the "Change Option" option....

a few quick question for bbymel or whoever.

1. i have the sprint pearl for a loner until the curve is released. can i buy the bbalert app now and have it activated (transfered) onto the curve when i get it? i ran the trial but it expired. the curve could be delayed as far as june 1 and i cant go that long without bbalert.

2. do we get free updates as the app developes once we pay for it once? i see it is at 1.65 now, but when the next version comes out can we update and use the same code?

3. what happens if we loose are phone and have to have it replaced? or service and repare shop wants to replace it because they can't fix something. do we have to buy the app agian?

i am new to the blackberry world as as far as i can see these apps are assigned to the pin number, which would change from device to device. windows mobile is a serial number per user name.

Thanks, Cody

Hello All,
BB newb here. BBAlert is great and it's fills my one complaint regarding the BB very nicely. I am still a trial user and I have a couple of questions.
1) BBAlert does not start automatically. Can I configure BBAlert to start automatically from a hard or soft boot?
2) I transfer a lot of recurring calendar events to my BB, without reminders. BBAlert is alerting me for those calendar events. Can I make BBAlert respect my calendar entry reminder setting? IE, it would remind me of calendar events, which BB is natively reminding me about, but ignore those calendar entries without a native reminder set?

It should start automatically upon the BB's restart (hard or soft). What version do you have? There were one or two versions that did have autostart disabled programatically while BByMel was doing some troubleshooting but most recent versions out there should autostart automatically.

Are all Permissions set to ALLOW?

As for the calendar, I think it's All or None, I'm afraid. The calendar alerts are a fairly new addition to BBAlerts, and I'd never really tried a calendar event with no reminder so I am not certain.

Hello BByMel

I am a registered user of Blackberry Alerts and I an enjoying it. I used a Treo 680 before I move to BB and there was a program called My Bills by Helen Sandoz (for Treos only). Is it possible you can created an application similar to that for the BB? I have not found one as detailed as this one. I will buy it on the spot.

Thank you.

Does anyone know if Blackberry Alerts works to repeat notifications from Enterprise Messenger or any of the other RIM-supplied apps (Yahoo! Msgr, ICQ, etc)?

I searched the thread and found a reference to Blackberry Messenger not being supported, so I assume the same for other messengers?

Hey guys, I'm on the 8330 Curve and I'm hesitant to buy BBAlerts. I tried the trial and it worked alright, but I'm wondering a few things, some of which others have already asked, but I'm going to go ahead and reiterate my concerns:

1. If we purchase BB Alerts from handango, do we get all subsequent updates for free?

2. Is there a way to change the colour between mailboxes (Gmail and my Outlook email)?

3. Is it possible to make Windows Live Messenger display a particular colour apart from SMS? Currently it's all still red for me.

4. I don't believe BBAlerts is picking up the SMS as I've set it to Purple and it is still always Red. I'm not sure if it's picking up voice mail or Event reminders either. I would be fine if say it picked up all the other events and I could just leave Windows Live Messenger as red haha.

Is Bell CDMA? I have an Alltel 8330 (CDMA) and alerts do not work for SMS or MMS. I've had this problem sice I upgraded to the Pearl, which also runs OS 4.3. I suspect CDMA Curves won't support SMS or MMS notification. I know Mel worked on it for me for a little while but didn't have any luck. It stinks, but everything else works like it should. It's still a good program.

I'm still in the trial. If I don't get it I think I will miss it. However I'm still a little bother by some of it. First, I prefer to turn my phone off at night and charge...If I have Idle Alert ON, the green light doesn't show during the charging. Today, I had a missed phone call and email. I didn't see the missed call alert, just the email...but I didn't get a missed call window either, just in the log. I just tested SMS and a phone call and both alerts showed (blue for SMS, red for phone). This means it is either inconsistent, or I just didn't look closely. I have a few more days to see.

Are the issues with 4.3 and 8330 being fixed? How many colors can you set? Red email, Blue phone, and sms and mms don't work?

My trial has expired so I can't check again, but as far as I know, I could see all the colours when I went into the colour cycling test thing in BB Alert, but I only got Blue email and Red messages to work. I set MMS and SMS to other colours but they were always red so I'm assuming that they weren't picked up by BBAlert.

And yes, it is an 8330 Curve (4.3) and CDMA.
