So, does anyone have any ideas why SMS will not trigger BB Alerts on my Pearl? Software version 4.3.0.81. Is there possibly a setting I need to tweak or a permission I need to change that I'm not thinking of??

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Check out post #847 in this thread. The developer BBmel posted something regarding permissions which may help you...

I went and read that reply but I checked my firewall and it is disabled. I also looked at the edit permissions folder located in the advanced options/applications/BBalert and under security options/application permissions/BBalerts. I'm totally lost, should I erase it and try to download it from another link. Is there any way to get it to work?

I reset the firewall prompts, the firewall is disabled, nothing changed beyond installing 1.6

Now since I've went back to 1.49, it still wont work as it did for SMS

In PM'ing BByMel I can answer this one:

The new code for 1.6 is based on some APIs that arent present until BB OS v4.2.2.... The 8700's we have via Sprint only go up to 4.2.1.....

The new code is very stable using the new APIs, so it may be *very hard* to make a version that works with the older BB OS.

For my 8700 users I am tring to find an OS that will work, I may look into Vodaphone or even other carriers in the US like Cingular. Unfortunatly I havent had any time to work on this OS upgrade.

I'm having the same problems not getting notifications for SMS messages and I am on BIS, not BES.

I am sure BByMel has this on his "to do" list. Since he has to code this app and try to have it work on such a variety of hardware, carriers, and BB OSs, many of these things have to take TONS of time, and are always "a moving target" (due to carrier OS upgrades, etc.).

You can PM him your requests directly, or post them here. He is a very responsive author, so you are sure to hear back at some point.

Keep in mind, everyone has "real life" going on too, I am assuming this is an "after work" project for BByMel.

Thanks for your help. I did PM him. I'm sure he gets a lot of requests, so I have always tried to avoid bugging him. I've paid for about 5 licenses rather than try to get new ones from BByMel or Handango. But I really hope he has time to give an update on this issue! Thanks again.....

No I'm not on a corporate BES, just a regular VZW plan. I saw that there is a new BB OS update. I currently have 4.1, if I download the new OS do you think the program will work?

Before I had BBalerts I had desktop messages sent to mute, and level one messages to alert. Then set the messages I needed to level 1. Since I've installed BB alerts, I haven't found a way to keep the regular (not level 1) messages silent while getting a repeat chime for the level one messages. I've left the "notify on missed E-mails" unchecked with the high priority checked.

What am I doing wrong? Is this possible?

Steve

Anyone?

When I got my Curve, I bought BB Alerts from Handango, but downloaded the lastest version from one of the links here and put my registration key in and it worked fine. It should work for you also.

I am using version 1.5. I purchased this from handango which was version 1.49. I recently had to get a new reg key since I had a replacement phone. The registration key worked fine on 1.5.

Thanks...I did that this AM and it worked.

But another question...has anyone noticed that Help>About in the version downloaded from the 1.60 link says 1.5?

I thought I needed to upgrade after checking Help>About in BBAlerts on my BB and seeing it said 1.50. I went to the 1.60 download link and started to install it, and got a prompt asking if I wanted to replace version 1.60 with version 1.60.

Can those of you w/1.60 installed check Help>About and confirm you're also seeing 1.50 on that screen?

This is the way mine is also. Shows 1.5 in the about screen.
