I'd really like to be able to keep my plan at the $60 level but could only do that with wifi to help out. I'm currently using about 40 to 50 mb per month.

Unfortunately, then your going over your current data rate package - causing overage charges. :( - that is painful (unless your still in the unlimited data 3mth introductory offer).
WIthout better data plans - and 4 providers (3 of which offer BB units) - is NOT a good practice for competition. IF one of those 3 providers changes their BB data rates (say offering 7mb @ $30, and say 25mb @ $40/50 level, and say $75/mth = 100mb); it may not be enough to cause a significant "per unit" churn for users to switch providers; and thus the only provider that switches will be forced to switch their rates back because they'd LOOSE revenue with their existing customers. Other factors such as variance choice of models don't offer users a TRUE "choice". This to me equals price fixation.
ie User 1 wishes to have a small full qwerty keyboard BB unit with 3.5mm headset jack & A2DP = Curve = GSM carrier only. Unless the GSM carrier above reduces prices - Mr. CDMA user is left in the cold with his wants. RIM needs to start introducing models with the same feature set for BOTH radio types to offer consumers CHOICE!
^ Thats why us Canadians are PRAYING that the 8320 Curve or 8120 Pearl 2 has not only the WiFi/UMA capability but it being NOT locked and NOT taking out of our cellular providers data package when we choose to use WiFi for browsing & IM Chatting - at the least.
