Question Domino Mail Cluster Failover Setup Question

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

I configured in my 2 test mail servers (Domino 7.0.2 FP1) and placed them in a Domino cluster. I then setup a test BES 4.1.4 (also Domino 7.0.2 FP1).

Now the testing went on fine, the test BlackBerry user still receive new email messages after I purposely shut down mail server 1 and let mail server 2 running. I was happy way too early... until when I try to test sending a message from the BlackBerry handheld. Guess what, all sent messages were stuck in the mail.box of the BES. They are delivered only after I brought mail server 1 back online again.

Is there something that I missed configuring on the BES? Or something I missed configuring on the clustered mail servers?

Note: On the BES and the mail servers, the respective CLUSTER.NCF files contains both the mail servers name in it. Also, the CLUSTER.NSF documents have the same replica IDs for the mail servers.

Could someone enlighten me? Thanks in advance.

I tested clustered servers with 6.5.6 and it worked well with BES
Didn't make any changes to BES setup. (added a mailrouting connection doc only)

If the user try to send an e-mail from notes while server1 is down.. is it delivered?

Thanks for responding MikeB. Yes, by creating a connection doc for BES to the secondary mail server resolved the issue. Thanks very much!
