I just got my first spam on my att.blackberry.net account. I have not given that email address to ANYONE.

How in the world did that happen, and this is a preview of what's to come?

The email generators can easily come up with ANY thing you create as an email address... there are no spam filters for the @carrier.blackberry.net address.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830: BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

I thought he can go into his filter and set it up where no mail from that account is forwarded to handheld.

Yep, that can be done.

or just delete the account address and use a gmail account to the BB... which has great spam filtering.

So, there are no adverse consequences of deleting the carrier.att.blackberry.net account? RIM or AT&T don't use that address at all?

If not, I think that's the way to go.

I have one for my ATT account, but when the spam starts, I will likely delete it. I don't use that address anywhere either, to register at sites or anything. Once in a while i will forward links to myself to download.

I initially used it for REXWireless, but I've long since changed it, and don't think I've used it anywhere else.

On the next spam (inevitable, I'm sure), I'm just gonna delete it in BIS and see what happens.

That is one of the major reasons NOT to use that address. I hope you get it sorted out
