Default Can I use my Blackberry 8300 Data Cable on a USB car charger?

Please Login to Remove!

I just got a Blackberry 8300 and was wondering if I could charge it/would it hurt anything on it, if I used the data cable going into a USB car charger?

I have it for my MP3 Player and was wondering if it would work?

Thanks

Do you have a model number for the car charger? I have a car charger (from Motorola) that has the mini USB port and it charges my BlackBerry just fine.

It's an MP3 Player car Charger. That I plug a usb cord from my mp3 player into. Its not a blackberry car charger. That's why I was wondering if it would work, or if it would hurt my blackberry.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Probobly won't hurt your BB unless it sends a huge charge to it! The current flow from charger to device is controlled by the charging circuit in the BB. Working properly it won't allow more current into device than is supposed to!

I think you will be okay! Who is manufacturer of you charger? Model #?

Thanks Man. When I was out last night I saw a USB car charger last night that was almost like what I have for my MP3 player but it said on the package that it charged Blackberrys too.

I'm not shure Who the manufacturer or Model #, I'm not shure if it saids on it. There's a Chain of stores called Five Below, where things are 5 dollars or less and my MP3 Player did not come with a wall charger, just the USB to charge it/ transfer songs on a computer and I wanted the wall charger. I was going to get one from Best Buy and the car charger which would have been almost 40. Bucks. I went in there just to check the place out and found a wall cahrger and car charger both fot 10 bucks.

Ahhh....just remember this-

When you charge your blackberry with a charger that is not designed for your phone, you are never sure of the surge protection. For instance, VZW sells car chargers for 30 bucks that you can get at Wal-Mart for $12. The difference is this- the VZW charger is designed to fail before a surge reaches your phone. The Motorola guy is o.k. cause the charger is protected. I have seen some chargers that are made for mp3 players....looks like you could do better charging your device with jumper-cables!

I'm just saying that you will definitely regret it if your phone gets fried, and wish you would have spent the 30 bucks.

I just realized you said you spent $10 on two chargers. Geez...

There are a few things in life you don't buy generic...ever...
1. Pop-Tarts- Generic brands taste gross.
2. Shoes- Go crazy, but if you are on your feet all day...
3. Bed/ Sheets/ Pillows- You spend most of your life sleeping, so...
and finally,
4. Car chargers- Guess what ATT will tell you when your phone is fried, and you are still in contract...

Take the chargers back to the store, and get a refund.
