Bell 8130 owners...need your input!
Please Login to Remove!
Curious what my have been changed in the OS between 4.30.0.60 (Verizon) and 4.30.0.66 (Bell)...
It would be interesting to hear about any issues you are having w/the phone to see if things have changed at all...
For instance:
If you put the phone in standby (either manually using the Mute button, or via a BB holster w/the "standby magnet" in it), can you start a call via a BT headset?
Have you had problems w/Bluetooth support turning off on its own if you have the bluetooth status light turned off?
If you set keytones to silent in Options, and you use the "loud" profile, are the keytones silent when you dial a number?
Is there a setting to turn off the shutter sound for the camera?
Have you had any/many browser lock-ups that required battery pulls?
If you're using Suretype mode, have you seen it switch to multi-tap after a restart?
To put the BB in standby, you can press and hold the Mute key on the top of the phone. When you do that, does the BB prompt you to confirm standby, and is the default Cancel or OK?
Thanks...be interesting to see if there are any differences between your OS and what's on the Verizon 8130s.

Verizon user:
Frequent browser lock ups requiring hard reset.
Suretype is consistent.
The rest I don't use or have a problem with.

Thanks...but to be clear, what I'm looking for is feedback from Bell users (or Telus) on the newer Pearl 8130 OS, not Verizon users.

If they're using the same OS, it doesn't much matter. Does it?

Verizon = 4.30.0.60
Bell = 4.30.0.66
I'm wondering what's new in the newer version of the OS...

Yeah, I just checked to see if that .66 OS was available for download. It's not yet. That's not a big OS change there, though. However, it's *possible* to have some of the bug fixes you're looking for. However, the other stuff is not likely to be included. There will likely never be a fix for the camera shutter sound. It's required by law in some countries. The keypad sounds and shutter sounds are still in 4.3.1 so I wouldn't expect to see either of those. With 4.3.1 I don't get a prompt for entering standby so don't know when that will change. That's a big change and was likely in the 4.3.1.
Hope that helps some...

Thanks, John, appreciate the details.
One can only hope, where this stuff is concerned, and as John Cleese said, "It isn't the disappointment that hurts, it's the hope." ![Smiley](http://www.blackberryforums.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

are the Most important fixes I'm interested in... and would really like to hear from Bell (4.3.0.66) or Telus (4.3.0.65) users about.
Nice to have is no more "ok/cancel" when enterying stand-by via the mute key...

1- Keytones are only silent using VIBRATE and SILENT profile
2- No browser lock-ups
3- SureType works fine
4- No prompt to confirm standby mode (Just says to press MUTE key again to exit standby mode)
5- Able to initiate a voice dial call with Bluetooth headset when phone is put in stanby, using the MUTE key or when in holster.
P.S. I'm using the Bell 8130 with OS 4.30.0.66

Thanks, Cyclops!
I believe that calls for a "woot!!"
Mark, it looks like santa is taking care of you for Christmas (or maybe Thanksgiving, assuming the download is available soon).

Ha! Just noticed there are no keypad tones in vibrate or silent. Hadn't tried those profiles on my 4.3 Pearl..

You need the RIM OS package for your device installed on your computer. See -> Application Loader Error - BlackBerryFAQ
The Telus package was just released.. Bell still not out...

Bell has the TCP stack disabled in their OS. I they are the only provider that is still disabling the TCP stack. Pain in the rear end if you want to have some 3rd party applications working properly.
Btw, I have the brand new BB 8130 from Bell with 4.3.0.66 OS ![Smiley](http://www.blackberryforums.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

So what kinds of problems does that (disabled TCP stack) cause in terms of 3rd party programs? Can you provide some examples?

Browsers
Also, when I click a http link in an email or anywhere and it opens the browser, I get an error "unauthorized". I then have to go and switch the browser to Internet Browser and then try again.

Are you reporting a general defect in the Bell .66 OS that you're experiencing, or are you saying that's a result of the TCP stack being disabled?

I wish I knew what the problem was. Maybe something to do with the stack. Maybe some other problem.
