Default Using Another Provider's OS

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Ive been waiting for the Bell verision of the OS for the Pearl to come out, but, as of yet, there is no sign of this. I was wondering if I can install the phone OS from, say Telus or Verizon on my phone, and then still use it on the Bell network, or will this cause issues for me? The only reason that I want to do this is so that I can install applications using the application loader. OTA installs are out of the option, as I dont have a data plan (outside of the $15 a month unlimited email and bbmessenger), and do not have service books for a browser. Bell will not send me these unless I get another data plan, which seems quite useless. Any help would be great. Is there, perhaps, a way to install apps via email?

Regards,

Yes. You certainly can. It will work regardless of carrier. RIM publishes all of the OS software, there are just carrier specific things (like themes) but those can be un-locked as you wish.

Here is some information on it. Just remember to backup before your try anything!

Good luck!

Yes, and don't forget you may be downgrading.

If you want to just push applications you can also use javaloader. That's what I used before any software for the 8130 came out.
