Has anyone seen this?

It started a few days ago, my trackball is basically useless on my 8100.

Whenever I roll it left or right, it begins typing the letters "e" or "q" randomly (sometimes it throws a "w" in there).

THIS ONLY OCCURS WHEN AT THE HOME SCREEN. THE TRACKBALL WORKS IN APPLICATIONS.

It started two days ago and magically stopped for one day but then started again today.

I've cleaned the trackball. Pulled the battery.

No success.. Is this a hardware problem or a software problem?

If you are on the homescreen when you roll the trackball, where do the letters 'e' and 'q' appear?

Often an issue like that is solved by pulling the battery, OR it indicates water damage.

Definitely not water damage. The moisture indicator is still white.

Battery pull didn't fix it.

Plus it's only a problem on the home screen. If I can ever get to an app, it works fine and the trackball works normally.

Strange enough, it's back working now. The only thing that changed is that I connected by bluetooth headset.


Same situation two days ago. I wonder how long it will stay working this time.

The letters appear in the dialing screen, just like you were dialing a number.

When you are at the home screen, and roll the trackball to get to an icon, it brings up the dialing screen and begins inserting R's and E's (sometimes W). It will keep inserting them as long as you roll the trackball.

Very strange.
