Default 8130 - Help determining memory and low picture memory

Please Login to Remove!

I haven't had any issues with messages or call logs "disappearing." But my picture memory bank is already full after 22 pictures that I have saved. The 20 preloaded backgrounds are still saved for a combined total of 42 pics.
Picture memory limit is set to 12mb.
Does this sound about right?

I feel these are my two options (short of buying a memory card)
1) Delete unwanted pre-loaded backgrounds
2) Increase the picture memory limit

I would like to increase the picture memory limit but I'm not sure how much free memory I have. Below is what currently shows under status.

File Free - 921118 Bytes
File Total - 50462720 Bytes

How does that translate in the megabytes?

Thanks for you help.

Well I just tried to delete some of the preloaded backgrounds but there is no option to delete them. There is a little lock symbol by each one.

I just set the picture memory limit to 15mb (apparently the max?)
The camera now shows I have room for 8 more pictures.

My status is now showing
921790 Bytes
(still not sure what that means)

921790 Bytes ???

I hope you missed a digit here. This is under 1mb. Have you tried a battery pull?

Out of curiousity, what is preventing you from purchasing external memory? You can get significant amounts of memory on MicroSD cards for relatively cheap prices.

70 miles from the closest electronics retailer till Friday.

Well that's not good that my memory is so low. It looks like i'm having the leak issue. I don't have any extra apps or anything installed. And I have pulled the batter a few times. The phone locks up every here and then, which normally means low available memory on a computer. That's what caused me to look into this.
