Default roxio media centre with BB7230

Please Login to Remove!

Am I right in assuming that the Roxio Media Centre included with Desktop Manager is primarily intended for BB's with SD cards?

Because in my Media centre it just says "Blackberry not connected" when my BB7230 - which has no SD capability - most definitely is (it's just been synchronising). I understand the principle of how this works cos my HP iPaq has an SD card and the PC sees it as if it is another drive for transfer both ways.

So how else can I transfer pictures & audio files onto my BB??

Media Manager only works with devices running 4.2.0 or higher.

The only way to get media is to download it, either by emailing it to yourself or downloading it from a web server through the browser.

My BB7230 has v4.0.0.18 and according to one of the pages in this forum, the current OS is v4.0.2.56, and this is only for AT&T or Optus. I'm trying to use my BB on another network than these.

So you're saying that Media Manager will NEVER work with my BB?

Ah well, it doesn't matter, I don't like the Roxio interface anyway and it has a huge footprint on my HD.

Will just have to try the self e-mailing thing..............

As was said, Roxio only works with v4.2 or higher. There is no handheld OS v4.2 for the 7230, so it can't work. Ever.

Mail yourself pictures.
Download ringtones from the Internet.

Be very careful as the 7230 has limited internal memory.

Just as I thought - thanks anyway. That's what comes of buying a s/h BB off the internet without thoroughly checking out its capabilities beforehand.

As soon as I can get the 7230 to reconcile messages with Outlook Express, I'll do the self e-mailing thing. Pity about the lack of memory. Would be nice to have a few pix and home-made ringtones though.
