Default Upgrade to 8130 from VZW 8703e?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello - I have been using my 8703e on Verizon for the last 1.5 yrs and am still using OS 4.1.377. I would like to get the Curve, but I don't think it will be coming out for Verizon anytime soon. Do you think that upgrading to the 8130 would be good? I want something that is durable, reliable and generally prefer the full QWERTY keyboard. I don't travel internationally and have not heard great things about the 8830. Is their some sort of Today screen theme that can be used with the 8130? I just need some opinions from the experienced users on this board. Thank You.

Yes, the 8130 has Today screen theme. I moved over to the 8130 after having 2 qwerty devices (7250 and 8830). I have never been happier. This SureType software is the best. Plus, I have a camera, movie camera, and a small, lightweight, cool device. Give the SureType a week - I bet you will be happy!

The sure type keyboard takes a little getting use to....
I have had my 8130 for a little more than a month and I love it.

Default Just upgraded last week

I just moved from the 8703e to the 8130 on VZW. It is a great device. I am adjusting back to the Suretype.

Before I switched however I did put another vendors upgraded OS on my 8703 and it made some really cool upgrades which included the ability to use the Media Manager with the 8703. I was able to drop pictures and ringers on it from my PC. That allowed me to have picture caller ID etc. It had the Today theme even. Wild wild stuff. With the limited RAM on the device you can't do movies and music but I use mine for work so that didn't matter. If you switch to the Pearl you won't regret it but try to upgrade the OS on your 8703 before you do to see if it gets you through.

You know as soon as you switch Verizon will have the Curve out a month later

Even if Verizon does get the Curve, I will not be getting it. The size of the 8130 beats it hands down. The Curve is a heavy brick compared to the 8130 Pearl 2 IMHO.
