Here's what I've got:

BB Curve 8310
V4.2.2.146 (Platform 2.5.0.16)
DTM V4.3
Phone was locked to Vodaphone but now on Optus

I want to upgrade my phone's OS to the latest. Why? Coz I don't listen, coz I love to break things, coz who needs a phone anyway!? Coz I can

Anyhow, it seems that, from reading the forum, I have to download the OS from my carrier. So I trundled off to BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop and Device Software Download Sites and chose Optus Mobile P/L and I am currently d/loading "BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.2.293 (English & Chinese)". But it seems that there are more recent OSs out there, like "BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.2.338 (Chinese)". Should I be downloading this one?

BTW, is it me or is the BB site REALLY slow and painfully killing all our downloads when they are 93% complete??? I've tried three different connections with the same result.

You are the second one I have read say that about the slow and aborted downloads, from Australia, tonight. Maybe there is some issue, weird.

The most recent of your OS for the 8310 is posted as a Sticky Note at the top of this 8300 section.

Yeah, been like this for weeks now. Even sent an email to BB support which they acknowledged but never heard from them- typical big company attitude towards the little guy.

Yeah, that's what prompted me to post this. I'm totally confused. They all seem to be for SingTel, whatever that is, or in Chinese only.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.2.338 (Chinese)

Oh, the file I downloaded, "BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.2.293 (English & Chinese)", installed...and that's about it. There are no desktop/Start Menu icons, what gives? How does the phone get the new OS?

EDIT: OK, I think by deleting the vendor.xml file DTM is now reprogramming the curve. Waiting.....

Where did you see that? Every thread I've seen asking that question has been correctly answered. You're restricted only to OS's for your specific model number. Just to clarify, an 8300 is not an 8310 is not an 8320, etc -- the model numbers need to be exactly the same.
