Default How the heck do you stop this???

I understand there is an option to "Select", which comes in handy when cutting and pasting. However, this feature is on for all of my applications. For example, I'm trying to click on a specific email and instead of being able to scroll to it, it selects everything as I move the trackball up or down. The same thing happens when trying to click on a specific contact. I move the trackball down and all contacts are highlighted instead of just moving down to the one that I want. I've tried turning this off within my notes application and nothing happens.

How do I stop this from occurring?

While I would still like to figure out how to prevent this from happening again, a reset did the trick. I pulled the battery out, put it back in and everything was fine again. Anyone know what caused this?

You will have occasional quirks with the device and the solution is to do a hard reset (as you did with the battery). Just think of it like your PC, you need to boot it once in a while to keep things clear.

Your shift key is locked on. If you hold the shift key while rolling the trackball in the message list, it allows you to select multiple items. Just tap the # key and it should disable it (look in the upper right corner... if you see a big arrow pointing up, that's how you know Shift is on)

To stop 'Select'ing text, click your menu button and click stop or end select.
