I purchased the data plan for 1 day, cancelled the next. All the necessary service books seemed to let several other apps work on wifi.

GMaps works on wifi? You sure? Do you also have a data plan to boot? I hope apps start reivising to be more wifi friendly.

Like jf7fsu my Google maps works on no matter what I am hooked onto-GPRS, EDGE, WiFi , UMA. And quite well on all.

Yes, I have the data plan.

I guess Im not sure why it is NOT supposed to work. No one is saying why it SHOULDNT work.

Why shouldnt it?

BB map uses whichever browser you setup, if you use wap browser, than bb map will use wap browser data, if you set internet browser, BB map will use blackberry data.

Google map will only use interenet browser (e.g. blackberry data), so there is an option to use wifi data for internet browser, choose that, than google map will use wifi. Can't test it I don't have a wifi phone.

The option is in: options - advanced - browser.

I have a Curve on T-Mobile and BB Maps works fine over wifi. No special set up for the access, [I] just saw a page at Blackberry that said BB Maps does not work on AT&T, but not sure if that is still a correct statement.

I do have the data plan, but I dont think they are related because when I am in my house with my home network I never get off UMA. I think the browser options are set wrong as pointed out above.
