Can I set the "delete on" property of the device to "mailbox & handheld" through a BES 4.x policy ?

Just select that when deleting the message. It gives that option plus delete from handheld only when you delete an e-mail.

It only gives that option if you have it setup to "prompt" you. Messages >Email Reconciliation >choose the account and set "Delete On" to "Prompt."

Not sure if it can be set that way by IT policy or not.

Unfortunately that setting cannot be currently controlled via IT Policy.

Thats done through the options in the mailbox menu.No policy for that. Even if there was that wouldnt be a good option because sometimes users just play around on their blackberries when on the trian or bus and delete things then when its time to work they realize thats its missing from their inbox. i would recommend to change to "prompt" in the message menu.
