Question Invalid SIM Card

Please Login to Remove!

Hey,

A few days ago my friend gave me a BlackBerry 8100 and it works perfectly fine but when I put my SIM Card in after I put in my PIN number at the top of the screen it says 'Invalid SIM Card'.

Is there anyway I can solve this to get it working again?

My SIM works perfectly fine in any other phone.

Anyways, thanks.

sounds like to me the phone is "locked" to the provider... and you are using a SIM card that the is not the same as the phone is locked to... you will need to unlock it... see my sig for details on that

or there is horizon wireless as well, they are good guys

So... do I have to buy an unlock code?
Do you not get an unlock code with the phone?
Can I take it down to where my friend bought it from and they just unlock it for me?

some providers give out unlock codes if you have a current up to date account with them, others simply dont give them out... hence why i run a company that can get them... no an unlock code will never come with a device... they are locked to the carrier for a reason, to make money...

when you boot up the device it will say on the screen... also the logo on the bottom of the device... or if you want to get technical you can hold down left alt, left shirt, and hit H and it you will come to a screen, look at "vender" and give me the number....

Question unlock 8100 from SFR to T-Mobile

I have a Vodafone 8100 Pearl on French network SFR that I need to use with a T-Mobile SIM in Los Angeles. Does anyone know if SFR can provide me with a free unlock code? (And if so, how to reach them?)
Obviously trying to avoid buying one from an outside source...

Thanks!

Vendor 131 is likely Vodafone, though I am not positive, as the number is not listed the vendor codes I have...

If the device is branded to Vodafone, you will either need to get the unlock code from Vodafone, or purchase it from a vendor. Carriers will not unlock devices not branded to them.

A good reputable vendor is HorizonWirelessOnline.com - Horizon Wireless, Canada’s Cellular Repair Center ß, and be warned that a non-North American BB can take 14 or so business days to unlock.

Vodafone said that SFR would be able to- but sounds like they're wrong? I can't find contact info for SFR as their site in in French...
