Hello,

I am interested in buying a Pearl from T-Mobile.

So far, everything looks good. I am very interested in this device. I saw it on Amazon, where it is $0.01 after a $49.99 rebate.

I looked at the plan, where it is whatever minutes for about $40 a month, then personal data service for about $20 a month.

Is this truly unlimited data transfer?

Can this be used for tethering, and does that cost extra?

Does the pearl sync with Microsoft Outlook well?

Right now I'm using a regular iPaq, not a phone model. I'm interested in getting a new PDA, and I'm looking at the smartphones. I'd be getting this within the next month or two.

How is the battery life? I'd be using it a lot for Instant Messaging, on MSN. I have read about BerryVine I think it is. I use IM+ right now on my iPaq, and I know there is a blackberry version out there. How does running that impact the battery time until it needs to be charged again?

Is there anything I should know about the pearl? This is the model I'd like to get, and with the $0.01 pricetag from Amazon, Its hard to beat.

Thanks!

i have the $20.00 plan
it is truly unlimited
i don't know about the tethering, i think you have to get the $40.00 one.
i don't sync it through outlook, but it does work well
battery life works fine, i have to charge it once a day. i don;t think you can do im with the $20.00 a month plan
hope this helps
good luck

I have the $20 blackberry add on and it is unlimited data even teathered to a PC. IM is included as long as the app uses the data. I use google talk and yahoo IM. Both are free and use data not SMS. Battery life is good. I purchased my blackberry Pearl 1.5 years ago and the battery lasts all day even with moderate use.

Thank you for your responses.

Is there any restrictions on how to get the device / service? Age restrictions, or credit checks?

This will be my first time getting a phone, and I am under the age of 18.

I'm hoping that isn't true... my mother has Verizon, right now we're on a plan with her on that...

I'd like to get my own with t-mobile...

I guess I'll find out.
