Default BB w/ Verizon....

Looking into getting a BB as my work phone and wont need the data plan for a while since my Cingular BB has a data plan.

A sales rep was telling me that you MUST get the basic monthly data plan if you get a BB w/ Verizon. Is this true?

Wirelessly posted (what does it matter?)

True VZW won't allow a BB without a data plan

You can get a GSM BlackBerry (for T-Mobile or AT&T) and put in any valid SIM card and the BB will work - it may lack some services like e-Mail and web browsing...

T-Mobile doesn't force customers to sign up for a data plan like Verizon. Just set up your account with them by whatever method you prefer (phone/web/local corporate store) and when they are setting up your plan, just turn down the data option. If they ask why (doubt they will), just tell them you want to use the PDA portion without internet for a short time. They won't give you any trouble doing it for you.
