Default Using Address Book To Arrange Appointments

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I am new to the forum and to Blackberrys!

I wondered if anyone can tell me if it is possible to create a calendar appointment directly from the address book. I am getting very annoyed at having to enter details into the address book then creating a seperate calendar entry and re entering all of the contacts details again into the calendar.

If this cant be done on the standard Address Book and Calendar is there a program that I could buy that would enable me to do this.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you retyping it all, or cutting and pasting?

You can hold down shift and roll over the contact details with the track ball to highlight the text, then click menu > copy > go to calendar > menu > paste into the notes section, if that's the idea.

If I'm telling you something you already know, just ignore it. But if you're actually retyping it all, this will at least shorten the process.

This is one of the major shortfalls of blackberrys, at least for now. You should be able to be in a contact view and click options and have an option to create an activity (call, appointment etc) with that contact. The activity would then have their info in it. The next step of this would be to have all of that info recorded into the contact's history so you can track all of your interactions (including e-mail) with that contact for reference later.

As stated above, you can't do it now but there are PIM/CRM solutions out there for bb and two new ones, Agendus and Pocket Informant, are planning BB versions for release "soon".

Good Luck,
John

I've also requested a similar function. I did have it on my hp200lx palmtop.

Pocketday, which has many more features, and, therefore, memory/size impact, does add this function to the contact menu.
