Hi guys,

im looking at buying a blackberry and just wondered if you had any recommendations as to which model i should buy?

Well... what kinds of things are you looking for specifically in your phone? Is it a big problem to not have a camera? Do you want Wifi access? How about GPS? There are members here who have a wide variety of devices and can list good and bad points about each one of them. Overall, it's a matter of personal preference for what you want in your phone, really. And if you can narrow it down some then that'll help with recommendations, too.

im after one with a camera, email (hotmail and non hotmail accounts), net (wifi and gps i think), bluetooth, mms :D

Sounds like a Curve (the 83xx) series would work the best for you, specifically the 8320 as it has all of those features. As for Hotmail, I believe that you'd have to upgrade to a premium account to get it on your device, but searching the forums would be best to find the answer to that. I also don't have a Curve so this is where I step out and let someone who knows more about them comment on them, but they are solid phones.

well i currently have an iphone as i wanted to be a bit cool lol but im missing mms and bluetooth so not overly fussy bout size so long as it doesnt ressemble a brick or rowing paddle lol

If you're looking between the curve and pearl you're looking size. The pearl I'd nice if you want something thinner, more like a traditional cell phone. But you have to get used to suretype which from what I've heard is not a big learning curve. If you like the feeling of a full keyboard like me then the curve is more your style. I would suggest going to the store and testing them both out to see what size looks good

In my opinion...i would go with the Curve. that is the newest blackberry and has the most features. i could never do a SureType keyboard, even with the good reviews and the ease of use...i just need a full keyboard. my first blackberry was a QWERTY and i will always have that. i guess i am stubborn like that, i dunno, i just feel that i can bang out emails, texts, and IM's faster using a QWERTY style phone.

i would suggest going to your carrier and talking to the reps there, and also reading online reviews, and even doing searches on the BlackBerryForums.com for reviews etc, or known problems.

As an 8800 user, I personally have Curve envy. I would spring for the 8320 given the chance - and the funds to do so

Make sure you get a BB data plan or you won't be happy. Also, keep in mind depending on how long you have had your hotmail account you may need to sign up for a Premiere account to get it to work with the BB. Microsoft seems to have only grandfathered only the real old/long time users accounts.

Just to let you know, hotmail and bb do not mix, unless you are using hotmail's paid Plus service.

If you have a very old Hotmail account, it will work. Otherwise, as has been stated, you need the Hotmail Plus service.

i have had the same hotmail account for more than the past 10 years... remember back in the day when the inbox size was 2MB? haha

Haha oh old Hotmail. I wish I remembered my old accounts for old times sake. I remember when I thought having 10 emails in my tiny inbox was a lot of emails..

well it was a lot! my inbox would fill up SO much. i didn't want to keep deleting emails so i would save emails at HTML off-line pages. it was the biggest pain in the @$$. i stuck it out with hotmail...when they graduation to the 10MB inbox, then to the 250MB inbox...then when Gmail came out i was lucky enough to be one of the first to get an invite and i JUMPED on that fast. now, thanks to my grandfathered account, i can forward all of my hotmail to my gmail. the newer hotmail accounts (or windows mail as they call it now), you can only forward to another hotmail account. with mine, however, i can forward to any email address. i set up hotmail and gmail in outlook express and copied over all of my hotmail emails also...along with my school email account...so i have ALL of my emails in my Gmail account...and all of my emails forwarding to my gmail. call me obsessive compulsive...i just want to centralize everything ha.
