Have a new 8330 Curve (CDMA version, Bell Mobility). Stated simply: The AUDIO BOOST option, doesn't. There is no (or imperceptibly negiable) boost in the audio level by enabling the AUDIO BOOST option. This is in comparison to a friends 8310 (GSM, rogers) version, which will deafen you if you're not careful.
- I have benched the same mp3 on the 8330 vs the 8310;
- I have tested it against another in-store 8330;
- I have called carrier's tech support and the rep did a test with his own and confirmed non boost; and
- Tech's escalation to the L2 HelpDesk says the non-boost levels are "what RIM has set them to be."
Now, I know that CDMA is harder on the battery then GSM (all other things being equal). Have RIM, and <insert-named-cdma-carrier>, decided to limit the AUDIO BOOST's boost, which to be sure is power sucking to the max., so as to make the CDMA simply last on a standard battery?
Anyone have an override tip or trick?
I don't need a lot but more would be nice (and I, not the OEM-carrier will manage my battery performance).
Thanks,
